Question about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer

Ever since I spoke to Verizon about a problem last month with my modem, I keep getting cut off line. After 5 or 10 minutes, I try to get online and get a little window with this message: Up in the left hand corner of the window it says "work offline" Then inside the window it says: "No connection to the internet is currently available. To view content that has been saved on your computer, click Work Offline. "Click Try Again to attempt to connect. Then two little boxes, one says "Work Offline and the other says "Try Again". I always click Try again and do get connected, but this is really a pain. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Two resons can cause this problem
1. Loose network cable from the computer to the modem
2. Incorrect browser settings on the computer.

I guess you might have reseated the network cable coming from computer to the modem /router
In case you have not then this would be the first step to start with.

Second restart your computer and at the Dell logo screen tap F8 key a couple of times . You would get a screen windows advance options menu.Select safe mode with networking , using your arrow keys on the keyboard . Hit enter . Login as the adminstrator , try using the internet if the interent works fine in the safe mode with networking without disconenction , restart the computer and reset the browser settings.

Reset the modem by removing the power for at least 45 seconds,try to get online.
If you have a router, reset that also. Modem first, then router,in sequence.

Check the cable going to the modem for any cuts or connector is loose.

If it still won't work ,replace the cable.

Lastly, call your Internet provider.

your thumb drive dosnt have suficant power to keep the ps3 online. i suggest getting a land line if you wanting to play online. thumb drives just arent sufficant enougant to give out that much internet to a ps3. even witha router

This can still be corrected by doing a firmware upgrade, you can get that firmware from Verizon and that will resolve the speed problem that you have....

I have DSL/verizon,modem 6100F i keep loosing my internet connection


Your problem definitely sounds like an intermittent connection problem. It can either be one of two things. #1. You have a defective modem, or #2 It's a network problem. I will definitely go with #2. Here's the thing. The problem you have is very very very common not only to Verizon DSL customers, but also to other Internet Service Providers as well. The best way to fix the problem is to understand what's causing the problem. There are two types of intermittent connection problems. The first is Intermittent Sync. You'll know if you have this problem because the DSL light will be blinking everytime you get kicked out. That means there's no internet connection, The modem cannot detect and establish a connection with the Central Office. The second is Intermittent route (which I know is you're problem), The DSL light is steady, but the Internet light almost always turns OFF or turns RED. The only way to fix this problem is to coordinate with Verizon. The reason is because the problem is outside your house. The long cable lines, the drop wire, the cables that passes through from the Central Office to your House can all be damaged, If that's the case, then a technician is required to go out and fix the problem. Don't worry about calling Verizon, this is a network problem and you won't be charge for anything. I know losing internet connection is very frustrating. Give your ISP a chance, they will definitely fix the problem if you give them the opportunity to do so.

Can I use AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B DSL to ant ISP?


look if u wish to go for verizon service,,they will provide u with a wireless modem as well,,but if u tell them that u hav a modem then they might configure this modem only,,both ATT and verizon are DSL service providers with PPPoE connections.the only thing u need is the username and passwrd from verizon which u have to setup on the first page of the 2wire setup page,,both the connections are dhcp based.so no other connection settings change required.But when u talk with verizon make sure u tell them of the 2wire modem

Moreover verizon has wireless broadband service which is actually a express card tat u have to put into your computer and u can go online anywhere u go within ur country{it works like a mobile phone}

Switching DSL Modems


Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.

if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.

Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.

You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.

Last light on modem not working


reset the modem by removing power for a coulpe of minutes and then power it up wait a minute for the modem to reset and then try to connect to the internet

Linksys issues


It's clear that the router has lost its connection through the modem since there are no computers that can get online through it. Either the router lost the right settings or the modem is not online. have you tried to bypass the router and try the internet through the modem and check the internet connection? What is the brand or the model of the your modem from verizon?

Can only get dsl if i use landline


Hi, Rob just studied ur problem.Iam a tech which handles this kind of issue. I talk to verizon,at&t,bellsouth,qwest daily for such issues. Well i can suggest u onething u can get the efficient speedstream 4100 series modem which comes with a 1 yr warranty. And also checkout with verizon clearly abt ur distance from the central office.Bcos might be ur dsl circuit may be not technically feasible i:e NTF. For further clarifications plz get back to me.
