If the running capacitor is bad the compressor will draw above average amperage and the overload protector will cycle the compressor off. You should take it in for service.

It cools great when first turned on. After so many hours of cooling it stops cooling

Have you checked up in filter area at ceiling to see if fins are frozen or frosted bad? If they are dirty, they can cause frost/ice and AC goes in to fan only until frost/ice is gone. When did unit actually get a good cleaning last? Too many registers closed or blocked can cause freeze up as well. Does this unit have ducted or non-ducted system?

A/c will not cool

have you removeing the filter from the front of it sometimes colecting all that dust in it can cause it send only luke warm air out also if youve had it on none stop it can sometimes freeze but then letting it sit for a couple hours to a day usually solves that

My central air unit comes on but it's not cool and

to me it sounds like filter are dirty, need to be cleaned or replaced, home systems, packaged or otherwise are hermetically sealed and should not need freon recharge. Always start with airflow and/or unit being set too low. An AC unit of any type will build ice if a) the filter is plugged up and can't move enough air, b) it has been run without the filter, clogging the coil, again, not moving enough air, c) setting an AC unit below 68 degrees F will almost ALWAYS cause icing, and d) running a standard AC when it's warm inside and cold outside (unless equipped for "low-ambient operation"). When in doubt, a bit of maintenance(thorough cleaning) by someone with AC skills can cure a b, common sense will cure c d.

I have a RUUD RCBA-3765G Coil. When my AC stopped cooling I went to the basement and opened the access panel. When I looked at the coil it was frozen completely, the insulation was frozen to the front of...

This could be caused by a low refrigerant charge or dirty filters restricting the airflow. Also it will happen if the indoor fan isn't running.

Ac will not cool down

first you need to determine if the furnace coil is frozen or iced up. The water around the furnace means that the water is not draining where you want it to go. This can be from a blocked drain line or a frozen coil. The fact that the system is not cooling may mean that the coil is blocked. Turn on your blower only and let the air flow warm the coil if it is frozen it will start to melt. The system is then low on charge or the air flow is blocked by a filter or bad blower

Air conditioner has froze up with ice on coils, lots of water

Ice on the coils can be caused by a variety of things, however you stated the compressor was changed therefore this would lead to a charge problem (low pressure, low temperature) hence frozen evaporator.

If the coil was frozen over it tells me there is a different problem. If the coil is frozen over try this. turn the circulating fan to the on position and the sir conditioning to off . Let it run this way for 1-2 hours to melt the ice and re-establish the air circulation. Then turn the a/c back to the cool mode and see how it performs.

Lower temperatures during evening and night conditions can cause coils to freeze over. Running you A/C with the fan in the on position generally takes care of this problem when you are cooling.

Non cooling

Check the indoor fins and air filter if dirty, so if its dirty cleaning is needed specially the indoor fins it should not be block with dirts6702929.jpg. But if it is clean then you need a qualified technician it may need additional gas.
