Question about Logitech Webcam

1 Answer

I fired up my webcam c250h today for the first time (on Skype.) I connected with a friend in England and for 10-15 seconds of the call, I was clear but then it went to "snow". I was sitting about 30" from the camera. One time, I moved to about 12" from it and the picture cleared, I moved back and the snow returned. I have tried a different USB port and disabled all internet using programs. I did a speed test (twice) with 2.74 mbps down and .43 mbps up. A pingtest showed 0 packet loss. I am using an AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 2.19 Ghz, 448 MB Ram, 100 GB free on HD, Win XP SP3. Thanks, Richard Vick

Almost seems it is a focus or lighting issue. When you moved, did the lighting change for the image (such as blocking out a bright light behind you)? This webcam specs as not having auto focus. Have you tried focusing the cam?

I just bought a logitech C250h web cam and the picture is blurry how do I fix it?

Check
1) If the webcam has a focus ring around the lens to sharpen the image
2) if your computer has the necessary powered USB ports for this model
3) Launch the logitech dashboard (toolbar) start the cam using the Quick Capture menu and adjust while running using the Settings Menu

Pixelation problem

The problem is on your end. You can try several things. 1) if your webcam has a ring on the front of the lens you can turn it to focus. 2) connect your computer to the router/modem with an ethernet cable instead of wireless so you get better bandwidth. 3) try the tips in the article How To Improve Your Webcam Video Quality, especially the lighting tips.

CONFIGURE TO SKYPE
Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect the webcam before you start ( reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting defaults
Select the webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch the webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.

I am not a computer person.I was wondering if logitech webcam C250h will work with skype?

Yes, I have a Logitech WEBcam (not the same model) and I use Skype.
After you installed Skype then :-
To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video.
If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam
Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.
Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub.

I have a toshiba Laptop, and I have skype and oovoo downloaded on my computer, I want to know my Microsoft NX-3000 webcam, will not work! I just bought it today, this is the second webcam I had problems...

Sounds like the settings in the skype are wrong, you need to go into the tools - settings or properties. test the video there make sure you see yourself there, if you don't see yourself in the skype video settings page then its not working, also go to the sound settings, make sure the green bar moves when you speak, if it does not move the settings are wrong, you need to select the right microphone from the available on ths list there on the audio settings page in skype.

HP Deluxe Webcam on SKYPE 4.0-friends can hear but not see me.

hello you've probably given up and binned the cam by now - we nearly did. but solved it last night. It's the annoying photo editing program that opens automatically when your camera opens up that's interfering with Skype. called magic-i or something like that. Remove that from your comp and the camera works fine. good luck!!

We can see and hear our family in England BUT!

Not sure which messenger you are using so will give you the setup for Skype & Yahoo. If you need Windows Live and AOL Messenger let me know.
Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
Hope this helps. Bud

Logitec quickcam problems

Seems not a problem of your camera as the image it records of you is transmitted clearly to the folks you call. Maybe those people should get the same camera you use.

Or it their/your internet connection upload/download speed

Or it is skype - i use skype, but some of my friends move to MSN as they say it supports better quality experience of video chats
