Eton e5 sw shot

The SW FET preamp transistor, Q1, on the underside of the circuit board blows if a static electric discharge hits the whip antenna. In my case, a cat rubbing against me & the radio on a very dry winter day did it in. The back & circuit board has to be removed to get at it. The micro transistor & the solder connection are very tiny, so hard to replace. The antenna jack should still work, because the preamp is only for the whip antenna's SW reception. An easier solution would be to just run a wire from the antenna jack to the whip antenna, but you would no longer have the whip's preamp benefits, or just use a longwire antenna connected to the jack for SW. Also beware plugging into the jack disables the AM ferrite antenna inside, so you might not want anything plugged into it for AM reception because the internal ferrite seems to perform better than any external antenna.

Ive got a Uniden BC248 CLT Base Scanner. In the back of it, there are two holes for input/output of some sort, What is the diference in the am radio antenna vs. the antenna ?

Your scanner has four connections on the back. Looking at the rear, from left to right, are the power jack (10 volts AC, you need an adapter for this), an external speaker jack, the AM antenna connection, and the scanner antenna jack.

The AM antenna jack is for the reception of AM radio station signals. The scanner antenna jack is for police/fire etc, as well as FM signals.

In case you don't have a manual for your radio, it is available for free here:

I have 2wire gateway 2700 bt hgv has very poor wireless range who can i improve this

see if the antenna screws off the router, if so I suggust to look carefully at wireless antenna from Maplin , RS and so on.

If the antenna does not remove , have a look for a gold plateted plug so you can plug in a external antenna.

How to add external antenna to a GE 75300 GE Slim Spacemaker

the antenna is internal (I couldnt find an external adapter) - u need to open the top (20 or so screws). Theres a "pipe" thru the back that leads pretty straight into the antennae. Hook ur metal to the closest bundle and out the pipe.

My reception still isn't perfect, but you can listen to it. I moved the ac power code to the far side and gain some improvement as well.

No... i need to see how to wire this thing up i moved and lost the manual

Solution 1) The antenna goes to the antenna jacks, the video audio inputs to the video audio input jacks, the speakers to the speaker jacks, etc.

Solution 2) Find a friend who knows a bit about home AV systems and ask him to help.

Solution 3) Post the details of the receiver model and what other components you have in your system.

GE Spacemaker TV/Radio combination Model #7-7650

Yes, you will need an external antenna to pull in the digital signals. It will not work with the built-in antenna on the GE. Alternately, you can use an external antenna (ie, rabbit ears), connect them to the converter box, then connect the converter box to the antenna jack on the back of the TV (I think it has one). Granted, not an elegant solution for a kitchen TV, but it beats not using it anymore.

First off, the EOC-3220 series comes in two choices: the ones ending in EXT, which require you to add an external antenna, and the ones without, to which there is no place to add an external antenna. So there is no decision to be made in the software configuration, because it's all handled above the software's pay grade.
Other Engenius models with "either/or" antennas come with a physical switch that allows you to choose between the internal antenna and the external jack. So again, there's no software contribution.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 and whilst driving the other day it said "lost satellite reception" and has not been able to pick up reception since. I have updated the software from the Garmin website...

There is a known problem with the Nuvi antennas. Press the wrench icon, then the "gear" icon and then "about" and tell me what the GPS S/W field says. If it says a number like 2.9 or 3.0 that is good and tells me that the antenna is communicating with the main board. If it says 0.0 then the antenna is defective.

Also, try using an external antenna or just for fun, insert a piece of wire in the external antenna jack (with no shield) on the antenna and hold your finder over the satellite bar graph. You should then get a screen with all of the satellites in the sky.

Set the unit down with the piece of wire in the external antenna jack and see if it locates satellites after 10-15 minutes. If it's tring to find them, you'll see hollow blue bars appearing on the right and eventually they will download the data from the satellites and turn solid blue. When you get (4) solid blue bars, you'll see the accuracy rate start to go down and the GPS get more accurate.

There is a known problem with the Nuvi antennas where a part fails causing the antenna to no longer use the internal antenna and only will grab a signal from the external antenna port.

I am working on a fix for this.

Razr V# lost service after using external antenna

I have the same problem. Contacted 3rd party tech, take sharp pick or equal and there is supposedly a button in the very center of the antenna port of the phone. gently push the pick in the center of the jack and it will trip the switch. I tried it on my second damaged phone and it worked, so far.
