Make sure you have the right keyboard and mouse selected
this will depend on which operating system you have
click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your mouse and keyboard right click on either select properties then hardware make sure you have the correct one selected in W 7
make sure you have the right mouse selected click start control panel mouse hardware you will see which mouse is selected
this will apply to keyboard to in XP
make sure the battery is good ((has full charge))also you might test the usb device for the mouse is inserted correctly into the usb port ((if applicable))
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to mice and other pointing devices you might see a yellow exclamation mark ! or question mark ? or a red x
right click you will need to update the driver
