Question about WiFlyer WDB20B 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

WiFlyer security I got my WiFlyer connected to my laptop OK, but when I clicked on the "Connect to the Internet" link, I got a message that said the connection was unsecured. When I clicked on the Security link on the left-hand side of the WiFlyer home page, nothing happened and I never got connected to the Internet.

THis product worked great for approximately 6 months on my laptop and a couple of weeks ago, it stopped working. I'm not sure what happened,

maybe it was something I done of something that just happened. I had a technician check it and he couldn't get it working either. I have tried a new connection but it won't work either. I can't get the Dial Up Page to come up on the laptop now. Should I delete all wireless connections then try to set up a new one? Could the router be defective?

How to add an exception to your Windows Firewall - XP, Vista and 7

Windows Firewall protects your computer by blocking communications (i.e., bugs and malicious software) attempting to connect to your computer. Sometimes, Windows Firewall will block a program that you use from connecting to the Internet. If you are experiencing this problem, but you are still able to browse the Web (demonstrating that it's not a general problem with your Internet connection), you can add a Windows Firewall exception for the program that's having problems. This will allow you to use that program without Windows Firewall blocking it.

Setup Steps - Windows XP

  1. Click Start. Click All Programs and find the program that you want to add an exception for. Then right-click the program and click Properties.

  1. On Shortcut tab in the Properties dialog box, right-click the Target box, and then click Copy.

If unsure of your network key try to reconfigure your wireless network again.

Access the configuration page of your router. type on the address bar 192.168.0.1
On login type Admin leave password blank. if you set up a >password or the login page use that one.
>Once inside the Dlink Page
>Go to setup and on the left side click wireless setting.
>If given the option to click on manaul wireless connection setup click on it.
>Once you have the wireles window
>try to change the network name and scroll down
>Under security choose WPA security (enhanced)
>Scroll down and under the Passphrase type in your new network passwork or security key and confirmed it.
>Click on Save Settings
>If it asked your to reboot then reboot if not its ok

>Using your laptop click start and go to "connect to" and click on your wireless network and connect to it and along the way it will prompt you to enter your network key or password. This would be the same as your passphrase or pre-share key type in your network key.
> Once connected to your wireless network, Open an Internet browser to connect to the Internet.

Best wireless router

She could use it to connect to a Local Area Network, but without plugging it into a Wide Area Network cable (ex. DSL, Cable, Fiber, etc.) she will not be able to connect to the internet..

In other words, NO, she cannot just fire that up and get internet access without a ISP Provider.

She still has to have some way out to the internet, and that is still her dial up connection..

Belkin

Hi, your message is kinda garbled up lol. But if your Laptop is getting connected and has like 2 bars + in signal and it says you are connected it could be a few things the WEP security code you used could be wrong or you didnt put it in capitals & lowercase, as if its not exact will say connected but not let you browse, other thing it could be you need to go into internet explorer you will get page not displayed, press tools, internet options under security you need to click each picture then press default level and do it for each one then click apply then ok. then give it a try.. All the best John
