Check the cartridges to see if they are properly in place, check the papers to see if they need to be push further in the paper tray.Usually those are common problems, there are other things you can do such as clean the print drum, to clean the print drum you need to follow these steps: Open the printer and remove the toner cartridge.Inspect the drum for sign of damage,if it is damage you should replace it.Remove any large spots of toner with a tweezer or pliers, pay close attention while doing this because you need to avoid scratching the surface of the drum.Dip a cotton swap into rubbing alcohol and gently swipe any visible soil on the drum.If the entire drum is dirty put a few drops of alcohol on a lint free cloth and carefully wipe the drum. If you notice dirt anywhere else you should clean it while the cartridge is still out.Reinstall the cartridge and print a few test pages to see if the problem is solve,if the problem still exist you should replace the drum.

Printer showing initializing on the screen and not getting ready

Usually a failed formatter is the problem on smaller printers where they will not come to ready. Try disconnecting any data cables going from your computer to your printer and restart. If it comes to ready, you might have a corrupted print job stuck in the print spooler. If it does not come to ready when not connected to a computer then the formatter is done.

What does initializing mean

Initializing means that the printer is starting up and getting all functions ready such as fax, print engine, scanner. If your printer is freezing with just initializing on the screen then there is a problem. If you have added any extra memory to the printer remove and try to restart. Most common failure is the formatter itself.

I moved my HP 4000 printer from one office to another. When I hooked It back up, it printed out a few pages of symbols and then will not print at all. The ready light is on, but it will not print. Any

If you get a bunch of meaningless symbols on the page the usual causes are a corrupt or wrong print driver, a bad communication cable or a failed formatter or possibly a print job stuck in a queue on the computer that you connected the printer to (pending jobs often corrupt when you reconnect your printer). Unplug the parallel or network cable from the printer and restart and then try to print the configuration page. If it prints then plug in the communication cable and try printing again. Still bad after that reinstall the printer driver. If a fresh driver does not work, try a different cable.

The red triangle light with the "!" in it keeps flashing. I've just printed some things off but now it's not printing. Need it to print obviously..

ATTENTION light(triangle): Indicates that the print-cartridge door is open, print cartridge is missing, and other errors.

If ATTENTION and READY light is blinking:

Printer initialization
The printer is initializing.
No action is necessary.

Cleaning mode
A cleaning page is printing.
Wait until the cleaning page has finished and the printer is in the Ready state.
This could take up to two minutes.

If ATTENTION and READY light is on:

Fatal error
Turn off the printer, and then unplug the printer power cord for 30 minutes.
Plug the printer power cord into the power outlet, and then turn the printer on.
If the error persists, replace the printer.

If ATTENTION light is blinking and READY light is off:

  1. Attention: door open, no print cartridge, or media jam
The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention.
Check the following:
? The print cartridge door must be completely closed.
? The print cartridge is correctly installed.
? There is no media jam.

2. Out of memoryThe printer is out of memory.
The page you are printing might be too complex for the printer's memory capacity.
Try lowering the resolution.

Whenever I print my document, it doesn't exist the document I want to print but many strange symbols appear on the printed paper, how can I solve this problem?

Cold reset
A cold reset changes most system parameters in NVRAM to the factory defaults. However, unlike NVRAM inititialization, a cold reset does not reset the page count, the paper tray sizes, language, or formatter number.
Note If an HP Jetdirect card is installed, remove it before performing a cold reset. Otherwise, the procedure will also reset all the HP Jetdirect settings as well as the printer settings.
To perform a cold reset
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Press and hold down the GO button.
3 Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the GO button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During this process, the Attention LED will turn on.
4 Release the GO button.
Note If both the Attention and the Ready LEDs turn on before you release the GO button, you must start the procedure again with step 1.
5 The printer's LEDs will begin cycling. The cold-reset process will
run until completion, and the printer will return to the ready state.

If not work, tris this

NVRAM initialization

CAUTION Only perform the following procedure if absolutely necessary.
Performing an NVRAM initialization resets some parameters that cannot be restored later.
NVRAM initialization sets all default variables stored in NVRAM back to factory default values or to a default ROM value, depending on the variable. It also performs a system reset.

NVRAM initialization resets the following:

  • all menu settings to factory default values
  • factory settings such as formatter number, page counts, and factory paper settings
To perform NVRAM initialization
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Press and hold down the GO button.
3 Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the GO button for at least 20 seconds. During this process, the GO button, Attention, and Ready LEDs will each turn on.
4 Release the GO button.
5 The printer LEDs will begin cycling. The NVRAM-unit process will run until the printer is in the ready state.
