Question about HP DeskJet 5650 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have an HP deskjet 5650 and just changed both black and color cartridges. Test sheet ran fine with color and black. Now I am trying to print a Print Shop color document and the printer will only print black and white. I cannot find any grayscale setting I may have selected. Please advise me on how to print in color. Thanks.

Hp 4480 how do you unpause it

The HP F4480 likely has a malfunctioning ink cartridge which is causing the printer hang (i.e. internal micro-electronics damage inside the HP 60 color or black ink cartridge). You can verify the electrical condition of both HP 60 ink cartridges by activating the Tap 41 diagnostic test report (see video here for complete instructions):

http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
1.While holding the Power button, press Cancel (X) button 4 times, then press the Color Copy button once.
    2.Release the Power button.
3.The 'Tap 41' diagnostic test print should print.

Providing the color cartridge is partially functioning the Tap 41 diagnostic test print will be printed (this is a forced service print test which is mainly used for the evaluation of ink cartridge electrical health). A good HP 60/60XL color cartridge should display 1248 good nozzles, while a good HP 60/60XL black ink cartridge should show 336 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. Refer to 2nd video on how to read the printout.
    http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
    http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=444 (HP 60 - Deskjet F4200 model)

If the printer attempts to print the diagnostic test pattern (1 page) then the printer is generally considered operational and functional, if nothing is printed, but the printer attempts to print the pattern, then the tri-color ink cartridge is either empty, clogged or severely electrically damaged (black ink cartridge is not used). You can remove the tri-color cartridge, reactivate the tap 41 test and the printer will print the diagnostic test print in black ink.

There's an option under your print setting for color or black and white. When you select to print a window will pop up. make sure that you have the color print selected. Hope this helps

Will not print envelopes in black

It sounds like you need to run an electrical check on the printer, it is suggested you perform the TAP 43 (and TAP 10) DIAGNOSTIC PRINTER TEST to evaluate the ink cartridges electrical performance. Visit Inkjet411 support site to see steps with instructional video on how to activate these hidden diagnostic HP utilities: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2358

Hp deskjet 5650 printer is printing A test page after every print job I do. I've tried system shutdowns restarts and turning the printer on and off.

It might be prinitng the alignment sheet because you might have replaced the cartridges receently. So pleae scan that sheet once to complete the alignment and I believe it will fix the issue.

Hp 5650, black ink not working

try cleaning the copper contacts of the cartridge and the inner area of the slot where the cartridge goes in..
Also go to the Printer & Faxes under Control Panel and open the printer's properties..select Printing Preferences >> Paper / Quality >> under the color section check if "print in greyscale" is checked..
it shud not be checked...
save changes and try to print

When you try to print something, go to the Properties of the printer, before the final OK to print to see if you can make a selection of the cartridge.

Not printing color

Loks like there is a "well" under the "docked" position of the heads (at the right end of the unit, facing it - under the control buttons.) In my unit, ink had built up in this well to the point that some of the mechanical bits were scraping the top of the built-up ink pile. After I carefully removed about two TootsieRoll's-worth of old dried ink with a long scewdriver (using a flashlight to illuminate the area), the color printing seemed to be doing better. Can't tell yet if this has completely resolved the problem, as I have not yet printed enough pages to prove the point...
