Is the headset set as a controller? The sixaxis needs to be set as Controller 1. When you turn on the headset it could be assigned to position 1 and be pushing the controller down the list, which stops it working with most games. Some people had the same issue with their bluetooth remote.

Go to the settings section and reassign all of your equipment so that remotes, headsets, keyboards etc are all listed AFTER controllers.

People with the same issue in their PS3 rants, suggesting it is a problem with the Bluetooth
screwing up, which makes complete sense. Will I have to just buy a really long USB cable like he did?
The answer is YES! (For now this is a widely used solution, until a better fix is in place. This has
worked for about 60% of the people that have tried this.)

I'm currently trying to play heavy rain and at the very beginning when it prompts me to shake the controller it doesn't register, ive googled ten different versions of my question and i get nothing...

Well, it's simple. what kind of controller do you have, and how old is it? the 2 Sony six axis controllers i bought with my ps3 had buttons that stopped working on them. so it is possible if it is an old controller that the sixaxis just simply "went out" BUT when psn does go back up tomorrow download the little big planet demo or pop the game in if you already have it. it uses the sixaxis to move their heads. GTA4 also has sixaxis parts to it. and you can access that in the phone menu while playing the game. But you might just have to buy another controller if yours isn't working. Hope it helps!

My ps3 head set has said paired but not working , why . this 2 one ive got same problem.

The headset only works for games that support headset communication.

With that in mind, after you successfully pair a Bluetooth headset with your PS3, you need to verify that it's currently being used by the system.

- - - - - - - - - Skip this section if you've paired the headset already - - - - - - - -

To verify that the headset is paired, go to:

XMB (main menu) > Settings (second icon from the left) > Manage Bluetooth Devices (5th icon down) > [name of your Bluetooth headset] under Device Name with a blue dot next to it

-If you don't see your headset under there, select "Register New Device" on the bottom of the screen and follow the prompt

-If you see the device name, but the dot to the left of the device name is black and not blue, turn on your headset and on your PS3, highlight the headset device name and press the Triangle button and select "Connect"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Finally, to verify that your headset is being used by the system, go to:

XMB > Settings > Audio Device Settings (7th icon down)

From here, make sure that the Input Device shows the name of your headset's device name- if not, highlight Input Device and press Up and Down on your controller to select the headset.

Next, you will do the same thing for Output Device- select your headset device name if it is not shown.

Once your device name shows in both Input and Output Device areas, you can talk into the headset and you should be able to hear yourself. Adjust the microphone volume by changing the number next to "Microphone Level". The bars on the top of the screen in Audio Device Settings should move and respond to speaking into the microphone.

Finish by selecting OK on the bottom of the screen to save your settings. Don't hit the Circle button or else the changes may not save!

PS3 Controller will only work when plugged into the USB

I picked up the folling troubleshooting tips from the PlayStation Knowledge Center. I know it may seem silly or insulting; This is not my intention. Problems like this are usually just little things you're over-looking. Give thest tips a shot, one by one, and see if your solution is in here. If it isn't, message me back here & we'll try something else to get your controller working, ok? By the way... Is it a sixaxis controller or dualshock?
  • Verify if the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller works with the USB cable.
  • Verify that the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller's battery is charged.
  • Attempt to pair the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller to another PLAYSTATION 3 system. This helps determine whether the problem is with the system or the controller.
  • Attempt to connect another SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller to the PLAYSTATION 3.
  • Move closer to the PLAYSTATION 3 system. The maximum range for Bluetooth is 30 feet.
  • Make sure you have less than seven Bluetooth peripherals paired with the PLAYSTATION 3.
  • Unplug any other USB device plugged into the system when pairing the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller.

Controller and consolle

You can try hard resetting the controller.

Flip the controller over, and press the reset button. It's to the right of the middle-top screw ps3_controller_reset.jpg. You'll need something like a paperclip, toothpick, or something similar to push the button. Once you've reset your controller, connect it to your PS3 with a handy USB cable, and press the PS button (just like you did when you first got the controller). Now, it is paired again, and you should be OK.

I've read that not allowing the controller to die will help prevent this, so try and keep your controller charged 16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
If that doesn't work, another issue might be your cell phone and bluetooth headset (especially if you have the headset also connected to your PS3). Try turning off the headset, or if you use the headset on your PS3 as well as your phone, turn off your phone's bluetooth adapter. I was having this issue when I was using my Plantronics headset with my PS3 and cell phone.

Got this info from Kaivarri.

Let me know if that helps, if not let me know and I'll give you some more tips. Please don't forget to rate.

Thanks!

Sixaxis on ps2 ???

No, it's not possible to hook up sixaxis to PS2. Sixaxis is a part of DualShock 3 for PS3 which is an optional feature in the PS3 games. Playstation 2 controllers run off of DualShock 2. So sorry, but you're gonna need a PS3 for that.

Playstaion 2

Hey sml625,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, the Sixaxis controller is unfortunately not compatible with the Playstation 2 and is only supported on the Playstation 3 console.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,

Connecting bluetooth headset to ps3

You have to do 2 things in order to use a bluetooth headset on your ps3. First you have to pair it with the ps3. To do this you go to your setting and register the bluetooth device. Make sure your bluetooth device is in pairing mode when you do this. On most headsets you can simply hold down the button until the light comes on a solid color. once it is in pairing mode you will have to scan for new devices. Once this is done you should see the headset on the list. Choose it and enter your pairing code. If you have not set one it will most likely be 0000. Once it is it paired you will have to change your audio output and input. Go to audio device settings and change the input and output device to your headset name. Enjoy!
