Question about Audio Players & Recorders

On my bush 5.1 home theatre system, I am getting no sound out of the centre, and surround left/right speakers. The only sound is coming from the 2 front speakers. TV connected via SCART to DVD. All wired up as per instructions??

The audio output on the set up menu is set at 5.1CH. Am only getting sound from front speakers

  • danandrews22 Aug 30, 2010

All speakers work when I test them in the 'test sounds menu' however they do not work when I play audio or DVD

Model no. is CHT100DVD. I think I might be getting something out of them but it is hard to tell as it sounds very faint. Have tried adjusting volumes on the subwoofer for the different speakers but does not seem to work. If I go into setup menu on the DVD there is an option for stereo or 5.1CH and is set on 5.1CH

Have you verified that it's not in stereo mode and thats it in 5.1 mode? Double check the settings on the receiver itself. If you need more information please provide the model number.
Thank you,

The center channel should be fairly loud but the rear speakers are usually a lot quieter. If they are working on the speaker test then most likely that is just the levels they are at. You can get an audio setup dvd that may help you, but most likely you should just listen to it the way it is. If you have the user manual, see if there is any way to boost the sound of individual speakers. If the system doesn't have that capability you will have to deal with it as is.
    Thank you,
    Lee

Set the receiver for 5.1 instead of stereo. Some receivers disable the surround speakers on stereo setting.

With a Dolby 5.1 surround sound system, the level of each speaker is adjustable. Consult your owner's manual. It sounds like the center (voice) channel is set too low, or the left and right channels are set too high.

Why do only 2 speakers play in steroe mode

stereo mode is just that - stereo. Stereo is two speakers, front left and right only. If you want the other speakers to play, select a surround mode.

You must have changed the listing mode to stereo. In that mode only the left / right & subwoofer will work. Press the surround button and change it to any other mode .

Sony DVD Home Theatre System DAV-SB100

James, before requesting service, make sure your amp is not in 2 channel mode. (Centre Channel, L and R Surround are optional) or that it isn't wired up so that it only gets 2 channel signal (i.e. Left and Right)

What is wrong with my theatre system?

have you tried all the sound settings from your dvd player? i have a 'sound' button to change from raw to surround etc. Press buttons and try it.

Some dvd's dont have the channel outputs, so try it listening to classic fm or radio 1.

Installing a pioneer home theatre dvd/speaker system.

On page 36 of the Pioneer users manual, it describes how to set your audio for HDMI interconnect. Follow the directions, and hopefully it will work. You can down load the manual from the Pioneer web site. Google "speaker system HTZ171 DVD". Click on the Pioneer site for your system and look for the download on the right side of page.
I hope this was helpful...

Only getting left and right speakers from my rtd3131, i have no idea why when i do the sound check they all work

It sounds like your system's audio is set to stereo mode, instead of surround sound. On the bottom-right of your remote, there should be a button labeled "surround" that changes the setting between the two modes. I hope this helps.

Home theater sound from home tv

you can take those other 2 speakers and put them in the same output slots that are already being used, what i would do is toake one of them and put it in the same slots as the left speaker, then take the other and put it in the same slots as the right speaker.

Help installing Yamaha home theatre system.

This is probably a setting problem on your remote-the unit will ony give full surround sound on Movies like dvd-on TV you may not get all speakers going as the cable does not provide signals to drive all speakers-check your manual and change to the appropriate setting-pro-logic is bad for this-will not give sound to all speakers unless the signal tells it to.
