LG60PC1D has grainy pic on all inputs on turn on this shuts off after 10 secs. Checked voltages after disconnecting both y drives. V ok and tv doesnt shut off. Put 2 known y drives in (corrrect part number) turned on heard a pop coming from Y sus. Now all I get is straight line across screen. Could be Y sus maybe? How can I tell for sure?

Ok you need to check the ceramic caps in the high voltage section of your TV they are in parallel with each other next to the transformer. Just one can cause a system overload and shut down your TV. Notice that your TV has the exact same circuit for each color gun. The best way to check them is to take one lead of the caps out of the circuit board put your Fluke Digital MM on capacitance and make sure it is on autorange. If one of these caps is reading a farad that is way below the others. This is causing your TV to have a grainy pic and shut down because it's trying build up to a certain voltage before it discharges but it cant reach it thus causing a system overload. Also check in the tuner section and delfection section of your TV for weak electrolytic caps both surface and through mount.

Grainy pics on all inputs on plasma TV is generally either high voltage problem or grounding problem.
The first one is more common. If you get reddish or white light dots scattering all over the picture , then voltage to panel is too high.

How to locate the faulty component of my tv philips model 21pt5006/71 because after turning on about 5-10 secs. it will shutdown?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Cd door stuck(doesnt opened)

The voltage to the motor must be checked to confirm if there is failure from the control circuit or the loading motor drive. check motor and mechanism for any jamming. if so reset.
the voltage to the drive must be checked , the input trigger to the driver must be present. If not the mP sectiion must be checked.

Panasonic TH-46PZ85U Plasma TV All 3 HDMI was working fine with cable box, PS3, XBOX360. I used to connect my pc to the tv with a dvi-hdmi cable, but recently unplugged it. So I tried to plug in the same...

TV shuts off unless all the input (phono and HDMI) cables are disconnected. The
symptom may be intermittent.
There is an abnormal AC voltage entering the TV from one of the input cables or AC
Follow the Testing procedure to determine if there is a problem external to the product.

Constant symptom
If the TV no longer shuts off when all input cables are disconnected, then one of the
input cables is introducing abnormal voltages into the TV. Panasonic Plasma TV sets
have 3 wire AC plugs.
As a result, abnormal voltages introduced into this TV will cause the TV to shut off for
Intermittent symptom
If the abnormal input voltage is borderline (marginal), the TV shut off symptom may be
intermittent. However the cause may still be detectable with a voltmeter.
Protection Proof:
Release the protect mode - the TV has to be unplugged to reset this protection circuit.

Threats from the HDMI input:
Excessive voltage from an HDMI cable connected product will activate the Plasma TV’s
protection circuitry. Placing an isolating / buffering connector (sometimes called a voltage
conditioner) between the TV and the HDMI input cable often solves the problem.
Testing -
Unplug all the HDMI inputs from the TV. Turn on the TV. Plug in the HDMI inputs one at a
time. The cable that causes the TV to enter the protection state is connected to the product
that has the excessive voltage (and signal). Avoid connecting this product until an isolating
connector is found.

LG60pc1d is fried

well that is an indication that a component is overheating and causing the unit's safety detector to shut down. It is most likely a group of capacitors on the B Sustain board near the convergence control chip.
Changing the board will only result in a temporary fix and end up costing more than a callout or drop in repair It is not a DIY as generally all 3 boards should be changed and retuned as well as voltages being checked and the convergence tuned up correctly via a hatch pattern generator.

parts cost about $300 + 2 -3hours of labour so an end cost of possibly $600.00 depending on who does it

But some die hard DIY's on here have spent 3 times that amount in an attemopt to save money.. it's a Myth!

Please raste my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

My tv urgent

Hi - first check that all the fans are rotating - the set will shut down if they are not.
***** WARNING potentially FATAL voltages (up to 400V DC) exist on the PSU boards - if you don't know exactly what you are doing don't ! *******
Unfortunatly the fault could be on a) PSU b) CPU board, as this monitors the PSU voltages and will shut down the set if the measured voltages are wrong c) plasma drive circuits - if these are drawing excessive current, or someother fault exists the fault feedback signal to the CPU board will activate and the set will again shut off.
Check the PSU voltages, the standby power must be OK otherwise the set wouldn't work at all !. The +5V switches on first followed by the +70V and +170V (about 1-2 secs delay.)

If the 70 and 170 dont come up try removing (with the power DISCONNECTED) the two large double row connectors on the PSU board near the 70/170 V test points - these supply the plasma drive circuits - the set will still switch off as there is a fault feedback line from the drivers, but it should stay on long enough to check the voltages.
