Question about GE Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I woke up today and my air conditioner wasn't working! I tried unplugging it and hitting the reset button and nothing works. The power light on the plug still lights up green whenever it's plugged in, but it will not power on. What should I do? Model Number: AEW08FMG1

There MIGHT be a small fuse in the control. You would be fortunate if that was the case. Most of these controls just die. If you don't feel like putting a lot of money into fixing the machine I wrote a short article on bypassing that control.

While running in a screw to install a new electrical outlet cover, the outlet made a small pop and the lights flickered but immediately came back on. I plugged in the unit to see if it worked and nothing...

You say the unit is 220 volt, but the plug you installed has a white wire which is normally on a 120 volt outlet. A 220 volt outlet would have 2 black wires and ground. If you do have 220 there, and the reset does no good, I've seen those resets(they are basically built in GFI) blow out and had to bypass/put different chord on. there are fuses on the control board but I would check that last

The unit worked fine when i last used it in the fall. I plugged it back in today and all the buttons lit up for about 1.5 seconds and then all the buttons went dark again. So I pushed the "on"...

I have had a problem like this in the past you can try taking the electric access panel usually on the side of the equipment. then look inside you will see a wiring harness inside and it literally takes nothing to bump it loose. This happens when people move these units they are pretty fragile and can be tempermental. Make sure the unit is unplugged while you adjust the wiring harness. If that deosnt work your display board is probably bad. Hope that helps

The went out in my condo and I have 3 samsung air

Unplug all the units, and wait for about a minute and plug it back. This is to reset all the units back to the
original condition. Hope this works.
