Question about Pentax 8X21 Ucf R Binocular

Open Question

I am suffering a slight alignment problem with my Pentax UCF Mini 8x21 giving very mild double vision. I don't think they've been dropped or damaged in any way. I can cure the double vision by applying a small amount of pressure to the unit and 'twist' the binoculars 'straight'.

One image is slightly above the other at all distances. After using the binoculars for even a couple of moments, my eyes are strained. The problem was present when the binoculars were purchased, however...

The oculars are not aligned properly causing double vision. Check on the binoculars to see if there is a place to adjust the alignment of either of the oculars. Look for any loose screws that may cause the two oculars to be out of alignment.
If this is not the case try adding some torque to the binoculars to see if the will adjust to where they will both point in the same direction. The eyes can fuse disparate images slightly but there is a very small range that they can handle. If the two images are separated by more than this small amount it will cause eye strain and double vision.

I see two immages. I can not get the immage to become one. I am using a Nikon 8x21 6.3deg Sprint II

this is usually caused by the bino's being dropped or banged knocking the internal prisms out of alignment.

Double Vision Pentax 10x50 PCF III

If you have double vision it is out of collimation (alignment of the optical axis). You need to send this to the manufacturer for repair.

I just replaced the toner cartridges for the second time but still find my print (text) is grey instead of black and looks like it is suffering from double vision (or I am suffering from double vision) but...

1 of two things. You have a bad heat roll in the fuser. They will wear out the teflon and cause that problem. That is the very hot area in the exit area of the machine.
Also there s a machine made by Sharp but marketed by 3 or 4 vendors, Sharp, Toshiba, Xerox and some others, where the high voltage power supply will cause that problem.
Most likely the fuser needs replaced. That is the most likely problem. I mention the high voltage power supply because it is a possibility.

My pentax optio s has fell on the floor.

It is not likely that camera drop damage will be covered under warranty. But it never hurts to ask. Regardless, you will need to contact Pentax about repairs. Repair location information should be in the documentation that came with the camera. Their website shows service centers: http://www.pentaxusa.com/service/serv_servcenter.cfm Camera drops are not uncommon. Sorry to hear yours was damaged.
