Question about Teledyne Laars Laars Lite 2 Pool Heater 250,000 Btu / Natural Gas

1 Answer

I have a Teledyne Laars Series 2 pool heater, it just recently been shutting down on it's own, I use to have to shut it off. Tank is full, pilot light is on. It will turn on but just shuts off. If I turn the on and off switch back and forth can usually get it to work. Just doesn't stay on long. Cleaned out the inside with a blower. All looks ok, thermostat set at highest

First of all, I'm assuming that your heater has a pilot and not self ignition. You will need a jumper wire ( 16" of wire with an alligator clip on each end)attach one end to the terminal on the gas valve that the red wire from the pilot generator is connected to ( pilot gen. is the thing the pilot flame touches).
Now attach the other end of the jumper to the terminal where the wire from the connects to the knob where you set the water temp).
NOTE:
JUMPING BYPASSES ALL BUILT IN SAFETY DEVICES AND IS FOR TEST LEAVE THE JUMPER CONNECTED TO RUN THE HEATER FOR HEATING PURPOSES!!!!

My pool heater wont start the pilot light is on the red light is blinking and the fuel tank is full the temp. Is on high .the burners came on for asecond and then shut off?????what should i try to do now??

With these pool heaters, there are a couple things that you can check yourself before you call a pro for this problem. Try cycling the ignition sequence until all air is out of the gas line. Also, check your gas valve. If it is manfunctioning, it will need to be replaced.

One of the most common problems will be the flame sensor. If it doesn't sense the flame, it shuts down the burner. Good luck...Lee

I have no pilot light on my series 2

First see if the gas supply line shut off is open and the heat set to minimum. Then turn the knob to pilot to line the marking . Press the knob down same time igniting with a safe/ long barbecue lighter. Hold down knob for 1 min. Turn the knob to ON.
