Question about Televison & Video
I have a Sanyo tv from approximately 2000 - 2002. The remote for the tv quit working, so I went out and purchased a universal remote. When it didn't work, I exchanged it for a different remote. I have now tried 3 different universal remotes and none of them will work consistently. I am thinking there is a problem with the tv that is preventing it from responding to remotes. The biggest problem is that I am now stuck on video, and there is no input button on the tv itself so I can get back to my cable. I hate to buy a new tv when the one I have works perfectly fine, except with no remote.

Tips for a great answer:

1. You always need to include ALL model numbers
with your problem description, otherwise no one can help you effectively.
2. There is no such thing as a 'universal
remote' since the coding is totally non-standard and may differ from one model
to the next even within one manufacturer's current lineup.
3. You may be
able to find a listing of models for a given remote here:
When thinking about buying a 'universal' remote,
get the model number and check the maker's website for a listing of models the
remote can control.
Finally, if the remote is older than the set you want to control, it probably won't have the necessary codes to control all of the device's functions if any at all.
