Thank you so much for your instructions. When I pulled the panel I noticed there were already two pieces of paper placed in the ribbon slot so apparently this oven has had this problem before (we purchased this house a year ago). I took the pieces of paper out and re-inserted them and then added the third piece between the ribbons at the point where it comes together and is slightly turned. So far so good and I'm hoping it continues to work. I'm just thankful this didn't happen last week when I was preparing our Thanksgiving meal! Thanks again.

I used the solution that some else had mentioned about putting a piece of paper between the backing plate and the ribbon where it goes thru to the the control panel.I did this about 3 or 4 days ago and its been working like a charm ever since. Thanks again for the insight.

Easy fix: Just carefully disconnect the ribbon from the slot, get a pensil eraser and use it on both side of the contacts, slide it back in and you are set.

Ge profile convection oven giving error code F7. What parts do I need

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F7 means that the function pad button is stuck or the clock has gone bad. If you are unable to unstick the button then to resolve this issue you’ll have to replace the electronic range control. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

326B1230P001 GE Double oven that displays ?F7? and beeps

I have a GE JT950 double oven that just did the same thing: F7 and beeps like crazy. I found solution on another post: an engineer figured out how to solve the issue without calling GE or buying parts. I just did it tonight and it worked fine. Here is a copy of the post:

Send an e-mail to Charlie at hutchipop@yahoo.com for a fix-it that you can try. He explains a possible solution fully with his 'The Dreaded "F7" Error' solution. I actually found his information on another website when I did a web search for "GE Profile Oven F7 Issue". I sent an e-mail to him and he replied with free fix-it information. I am not a repair person myself, but, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. I did the fix-it at no cost in approximately 10 minutes and it has solved my problem

Error message...

The F7 is intended to indicate a stuck START key. However, a design defect may cause a false indication. This can be corrected by adding insulation to the ribbon cable. You can find detailed instructions at my web site. Follow this link:

All of the above must be entered as the address on the same line.

F7 error code

Hi Kathryn, I believe that I have already sent you my solution via another route. Hope you received it. Basicaly for anyone else with this problem, it is caused by a short circuit envolving the ribbon cable which connects the touchpanel to the electronic control. The solution varies slightly depending on whether you have a metal or plastic touch panel. If you have a plastic touch panel, you need to add some extra insulation between the two pieces of ribbon cable in the slot where it exits the touchpanel. You need to slip it down as far into the slot as it will go. A piece of paper, a piece of file card, a thin piece of mylar will all work just fine. If you have a metal touchpanel, you need to insulate the edges of the slot as well with paper or mylar. Insulate both edges. If you don't have two sections to the ribbon cable, obviously you can't put insulation between the sections. If you have a plastic touch panel and only one section to the ribbon, you are out of luck. There is nothing you can do except to purchase a new touch panel. Cleaning the contacts is a myth. It doesn't help. Hope this helps. Please let me know your results. Contact me at hutchipop@yahoo.com. Regards, Charlie
