Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Hi, Its a Goodman,80000btu.LP. High eff. With A/C on the furnace fan is staying on. The thermostat is still turning the A/C unit off. Even with the thermostat switched off the blower still runs (i've been turning it off at the furnace.) Is this a blower relay? If so is it replaceable without replacing the whole board? I'm assuming the thermostat is ok as it is only a 2-wire and still signals the A/C. p.s Should i be giving the blower any rest(cool off) intervals or is it ok running continuously while the A/C is in use. Thanks. Jeff

Hi,

Unhook the thermostat wires on the furnace. If the blower shuts off then your problem is either the thermostat or the thermostat wires. If it continues to run check you high limit switches next. If all else fails you most likely have a bad blower relay. On most modern furnaces the blower relay is part of the circuit board.

Taking it to the service center they will replace only the defective component in the circuit board. If you want to do it by Yourself you can replace the full circuit board.

Yes you should give the blower some rest else it will get over heated and also the A.C condenser may get damaged.
post a comment for further assistance.
thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Atwood 38591 Excalibur xt 1522 LP two stage furnace. Operates on high fan only

Hi Dave. I'm Roger. Its normal for a furnace to shut down completely when the set point on the thermostat is reached. The first and second stages are used when the temp. gets close to set point. The heat output drops to its low stage at around 3 degrees before set point. Check your owners manual for specifics on the fan though.

Fan is continuously running, even when turned off at the thermostat. vents blowing hot air.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. The first thing to check is make sure the thermostat fan switch is set to auto instead of on. The next thing would be the High limit in the furnace or the rollout. If there is a sight glass on the bottom door of the furnace check to see if there is a flash code in the furnace then check it to the plate inside that has the flash code diagnosis chart.

I have a Goodman high-eff furnace, 115 BTU/hr. The fan runs constantly but it has stopped blowing warm air. I'm getting 6 flashing lights as error code. What's this mean?

Remove the lower panel and look for a wiring diagram pasted to it. On that diagram there will be an error code diagnostic chart. Depending upon which model you have it could be an open overheat switch caused by a dirty filter or a bad fuse.

My heat won't blow through the vents. The furnace ignites itself but it cuts off after a minute. I've sanded the flame sensor but it still won't work. What can I do now? I just want heat in this blizzard!

If the ignitor glows and the burners lite and then shut off, the flame sensor was the best place you could
start at.

If this is a reg gas furnace or a High EFF. furnace make sure your gas meter is not covered up with
snow.

Turn your thermostat all the way up, if the furnace
does this 3 times in a row-then it should go into
a lock-out mode. Has it done that?

On reg. gas furnace make sure your chimney is
not obstructed where it connects to the furnace.
If it is a High EFF furnace make sure the pvc exhaust
vent is actually venting. It should also have a pvc intake air vent make sure that is not clogged.

If it is a high eff furnace, turn unit off and remove
the door that covers the ignitor and burners. This is
usually a interior door with a sight glass in it. Turn
furnace on, if it lights and stays operating, then you have a problem with the intake vent

Hi Proper way on wiring furnace.

I can give you a start, For heat only, R terminal on furnace to Red wire to R or RH terminal on thermostat. W terminal to White wire to W terminal on thermostat. G terminal to Green wire to G terminal on thermostat. This will get you heat but not air conditioning.

Is there a thermal Fan/Limit switch in this furnace? If so you may need to tweak the low range setting so it can turn off the blower.
