Hello BWOOD Check the thermostat FAN button is in AUTO position not ON position. That might be it .The relay is in the blower unit but they RARELY become frozen/welded stuck on.

My central air unit comes on but it's not cool and

to me it sounds like filter are dirty, need to be cleaned or replaced, home systems, packaged or otherwise are hermetically sealed and should not need freon recharge. Always start with airflow and/or unit being set too low. An AC unit of any type will build ice if a) the filter is plugged up and can't move enough air, b) it has been run without the filter, clogging the coil, again, not moving enough air, c) setting an AC unit below 68 degrees F will almost ALWAYS cause icing, and d) running a standard AC when it's warm inside and cold outside (unless equipped for "low-ambient operation"). When in doubt, a bit of maintenance(thorough cleaning) by someone with AC skills can cure a b, common sense will cure c d.

Outside unit runs, air handler inside runs sometimes Is there a fan relay that will work sometime? can here freon circulating but fan will not run. Can cut off and restart, will come on sometime. ...

Their is a fan relay on combo gas heat and central air conditioning.
The reason is for heat you need slower fan speed than for air. How do they do it? They use a relay to shift the fan from low for to high for ac.

Goodman AC Unit with Heat Pump - Works great cooling when switched to heat the outside unit does not come on - inside comes on and uses emergency heat? What can I check? I first checked the contactor and...

Because the outdoor unit works in cooling, it sounds as though the contactor and other components outside are working correctly. The problem sounds as though it might be somewhere in your thermostat. Has the thermostat been replaced recently? If so, make sure it was wired correctly. If not, check all of the connections and contact points in your thermostat. In order for your outdoor unit to run, you must have 24vac at your "C" Common and "Y" connections. You must have this in COOL mode. Now it has to be determined why you don't have it in HEAT mode. Definitely a thermostat issue.

Hope this helps and good luck! :-)

My heat unit will not blow hot air unless we go outside and hit a button on the back bottom of the unit. Once we do that it will blow hot air for that cycle. when it is time for it to come on it is cold...

If it does not have a furnace or heating elements for heating, then it is a heat pump, which is rare for a central AC system, but makes sense of the fact that it blows warm air when you reset the pressure switch, which may indicates freon pressure charge problem if your AC system has a reverse valve and uses freon to for heating (heat Pump).

Do you get heating when outside unit runs? if you do, check freon pressure levels and top up to required pressures. The button you depress is a pressure reset switch ... that is if your AC system is a heat pump ... which, as pointed above, it is not common for central ACs.

Central heating and air unit is blowing fine in the inside, but nothing turning on the outside, no cool air

Check and see if the fan will turn easily by hand. Do not put your hand inside with the power on. Turn on unit, take a small stick and try to turn the motor. if the motor starts and runs then you capacitor is probably bad. if the motor is hard to turn then the motor is bad.

Furnace runs on heat, air conditioner does not

If you have a Gas furnace in the Attic then the answer is yes. The outside condenser will not run if in fact you have a gas furnace.

This is my first central heating and cooling unit the heat will come on and heat the house but the big fan inside the unit is not running like it did when we would run the ac is this normal

I assume you are reffering to the compressor outside not running. If so this is for A/C only. In fact once the cold is here to stay you should shut off the compressor "breaker" (located either outide next to unit or in fuse panel) and get a good quality cover for winter. This will keep the leaves and snow out of the unit. Just dont forget to take it off in the summer before you run the A/C or you will damage the system.

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

Is your unit a Split system where one unit is inside (attic, garage, utility room) and another outside?? Is the outside unit unit running?? Is your thermostat electronic or the regular slide mechanical type??
