Most likely you haven't got enough air in the pressure tank. This can be remedied with a bicycle pump to add some air to it, but be sure to open a faucet and turn off the power to the pump first. You can also get some insights from the manual at Good luck, Al K

Sta rite pro jet 3/4 hp seems to be frozen..turn on and it hums then quits water pressure

it sounds like you have a bad starting compositor. If your compositor is a black plastic one look next to the spade connectors in the cap and you'll see a little resest hole with a brown stopper in it. If that stopper is black, burnt or leaking oil it is bad. If you have a metal one you can set it on it's base on a flat surface. If it rocks it is bad. If the compositor is good you may have a problem with the windings and either need to replace the motor or have it rebuilt.

Have deep well vetical sta rite pump both pipes in ground staying full of water will not pump press does not looose prime but wont build press

shut off pump breaker at the lowest faucet drain completely. Turn it back on. If this doesn't work, you have to change out the pressure valve on the side of the tank. it's not hard.

I have a 1/2 hp sta-rite well pump that only produces about 40 psi through my pipes. The problem is that there is a 40/60 switch on it so it constantly runs because it doesn't build enough pressure to...

You probably have a bad pressure tank. The pressure tank bladder can develope a leak internally nad become saturated with water which won't allow it to provide cushion for the pump to gain and maintain pressure. It could also be that there is little or no pressure in the tank. Check your pressure and add to at least 40 psi. If this helps , but doesn't totally cure your problem, you have a bad tank.It could also possibly be a bad check valve but, you would probably lose all of your prime.

My water system is loosing pressure. The pump runs until it gets to the preset of 50 psi but when it stops, the pressure drops right away. if I shut off the pump, it drops to 0 psi. I checked the pressure...

There is a screened check valve that should be attached to the pick up / suction side of the pump on the very end of the plumbing in the bottom of the well. If you have shut off the water output going to the home / what ever and the pump still drops pressure to zero as soon as it shuts off the shallow well foot valve is stuck open / has failed.

Some systems use both a foot valve and an in-line check valve to prevent the symptom you currently have.

Foot valve example:
More examples:

If this valve has failed... there is nothing to prevent the contents of the pressure tank from dumping back into the shallow well.
I doubt you have a shut off on the pump suction side but if you do once the pump shuts off close this valve. I would bet your pressure tank holds the pressure. If you do not have a shut off valve... just feel for a rush of water in the suction pipe AFTER the pump reaches pressure and shuts off. If your feeling water flow with the pump off and the tank at pressure / loosing pressure the foot valve is bad.

The pump works for a minute with the jets, then sops, then starts

You need to check the door on the skimmer and the water leavel on the pool. If the door is stuck or the leavel is low the pump will **** the skimmer dry and cause the problem your describing. Try these first and good luck.
