HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one printing in red instead of black!

Sally45 on May 08, 2008

" "
Hi. My HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one printer has started printing in red instead of black. I get about one page of black each time, then it gradually turns to red and stays red. I have bought several new cartridges (both HP and other) and exactly the same happens with every cartridge.

-   I have an HP C4280 All-In-One Printer that prints one page of black ink at best and then fades into red and stays red.  It's totally useless.  Please help.  Thanks very much.-   mrthoughtful

-   Same problem. I thought it was a Linux driver issue but the printer does it from its native from-card photo printing feature too. -   Guest

-   I have an Hp photosmart 2610xi it's been great for the past 3 years. Now suddenly, it's been printing in red. I changed the ink cartridge & checked all the settings-but it still prints in red. I might get one page in black & the rest red. My e-mail prints in black, however. What's up?-   Raybaby

Hi ,

As you have already tried replacing the ink cartridge , u can try to reset the printer .

Perform a semi-full reset on the all-in-one by following the steps below

1
Take out the cartridges from the unit .
2
Make sure the unit is connected to the wall jack directly without any surge protector.
3
Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit ( without turning off the unit ) .
4
Now press the # and 6 key together , while holding these keys down plug in the power cord back into the unit .
5
Do not release the keys after a few seconds u will find te hp logo or bars moving across the screen .wait while the unit turns off.
6
after one minute turn on the prnter . it will go into alligment phase > let it finish .
7
after its done > try to make a copy .

8 Allow the all-in-one to re-initialize. This may take a minute or two.

9 If prompts appear in the all-in-one display to set the front panel language and country settings, perform the steps to set this information

Note - you can also try the Ok n cancel key combination in place of # and 6 .in case the first combination does not work .

Thanks
