Question about Frigidaire Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Was cooking in the oven when it made a loud pop and shut off. Checked the circuit breaker and it was not blown, then pulled the unit away from the wall to examine the cord itself and saw nothing amiss there, either. Nothing on the unit will come on including the clock.

You have not checked on the actual fault of the unit. The fault has occured in the power supply of the control board and it is possible that a filter capacitor has burst.SIne the clocck is not working then the power to this section has also failed. so open this section to find the actual failure of the unit which must establish the power to the clock.

That unit shows that it takes 15 or 20 AMPS to run. What is the breaker amperage on the circuit where it is plugged in? Is the breaker a GFCI? You can tell by looking for the two buttons on the circuit breaker or the outlet.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

id say there is a bad connection somewhere and is arcing due to that which is causing it to trip breakers. so when you banged it and it started it made a connection and then stopped when you turned it on. open up the back abd just pull the wires anywhere connections are made and see if any are lose.

Well I'm reaching here---if the bulb did not fracture/break then it sounds like a capacitor popped--check your owners manual for reset button but I don't think there is one for the lighting---In addition if you can see the circuit board--look for burn spot or wet spot. GL

Unit not getting power

These machines seem prone to having a bad magnetron. Look for a circuit breaker near the power cord entry point. If tripped, reset and try to heat a cup of water. If it makes a loud buzz and then pops the breaker again, the consensus view is a bad magnetron. This is one repair that is recommended to send out. (~$150). You need to evaluate the probable cost vs a new machine.

Loud Pop, blown Breaker

Pull the unit away from the wall and inspect from rear. However, if all is fine, perhaps you simply overloaded the circuit that once. Were you running any other appliances (overhead microwave) at the same time?
