The other day i put my stereo in the car. and a stray wire hit a piece of metal and shorted out. i then got a new fuse and it still wouldn't turn on. i hit the reset button, but it didn't bring my stereo...

I've suspect that you have an open fusible resistor on the power supply section.
This component acts also as fuse to ensure the response on short circuit once the glass fuse fail to cut to avoid further damage.
Send it to repair shop to isolate the problem. This is quite fixable.
Hope that your output I.C. didn't blew also.

Thanks for using fixya.

My fuse blew in my car so i replaced the fuse. but now the deck says 'protect' now what?

Hello sir, the reason why the fuse blows up is a short circuit problem or overload on the stereo, unless the short can be find and replace the message will stay, I suspect the power amplifier IC is the bad part. have the unit checked by your dealer or an audio shop to solve the problem. Most likely those audio shop will have ideas of the problem.

My RCA RS2622 sound stopped working.

I'll need to look up your specific model to be sure, but I believe that the speaker outputs come from an amp pac. The headphones are driven by an opamp IC. The outputs are blown on this. If you can solder, you should be able to repair this. I'll look up the parts required and get back to you.

It sound like you have burt the output stage, for some reason, u have over driven the speakers witch blew the output ic's, or have shorted output. To check if you have shorted output unplug the speaker's and try again to see if the mesage goes away, if it doesn't open the top cover to see if you can see if there is burt resistor's or fuses, if so replace them, then try again without speakers connected, never put the volume to max, why ?????? I just don't get it. Leave the volume to 1 or 10% capacity to try thing's or with earphones this is alway's to me the best way, if for some reason it keep's burning fuses, then it is ether the power supply depending witch fuse blow's or the output amp stage, most likely if is the output amp, the two big ic's you see, check on googles with the part # on them this will tell you what they or.

Hope this helps
