I have got a washing machine that will not drain. It is a Hoover VHD 814 I managed to empty the machine by undoing the filter at the botton of the machine..ie at the front at floor level then removed washing and then tried it on a rinse cycle..that worked but it refuses to drain. I presume it must be either..blocked drainage pipe..but it worked yesterday so i doubt its that.or maybe a problem witht the drain pump.Or maybe a problem with what senses the water level? I am up on electronics but this puzzles me as i am not a domestic appliance expert.

Since you are an electronics expert then it is easy to solve this issue. When the machine comes to the rinse it must drain with the action of the rain pump >now check the voltage of the pump, if there is no voltage then the fault is with the program controller but if there is voltage on the pump without any action then the pump is faulty. open out the pump from the drain outlet and clean or back flush, test with voltage before fitting or replace if winding has failed.

Double check the waste pump on the inbound side, which could be the cause of a wrong feedback to the pressure sensor switch. The filter can be clean, but the collector from the basket to the pump can be obstructed.

Machine not taking the last fastest spin to drain the water.

the problem is that your machine is not emptying the water fast enough as the machine takes in a good deal more water on the rinse. clean the filter.

Error message EC03 appears on cotton cycle after 5 minutes into wash

I found the basic instructions that came with the washing machine and found that you need a screwdriver to undo a screw to remove the filter cover. I then gradually released the filter cover to empty the water out of the machine in small quantities into a shallow tray. I was then able to remove the filter and clear it of 2 x 20p pieces and a load of gunk. I then removed the 'washable' floormat from the drum as the rubber backing from the mat was crumbling and probably not helping the filter. Filter cleaned and cover screwed back in, mat in the bin, and everything working fine since.

I did try ringing the customer support number and after pressing loads of keys to select appropriate options; confirming my address, postcode, name, date of birth, email address, mothers maiden name, what the kids had for breakfast etc, I was allowed to ask how to get the filter cover off. Apparently this is a technical query and would involve arranging an engineer to call. I declined this very kind service option and opted for a screw driver, common sense and a positive attitude. Worked for me! No blood shed, a tiny bit of sweat whilst trying to get through on phone, and only tears of joy when I fixed it all by myself.

Machine not draining

Can you hear the pump running just before the spin cycle, if so then I suspect a blockage in the filter or pump hose, If not and machine is quiet then it could be a faulty water pump or PCB board and you would have to call a technician.

Delay Star

pump blocked try lowing drain hose to see if water will drain freely and then remove kick plate at bottom and carefully undo filter to pump to look for blockage . There will still be water in this part, per pair to get a wet floor ..Also un plug /switch off washing machine before doing any repairs
