You may be better off adding a new Ethernet card instead since this model has had onboard ethernet problems in the past. I have even had to remove ethernet chips from these PC's just to get the computer running again. Ethernet cards are dirt cheap and quite easy to buy at office max, office depot, bestbuy, walmart and other places.

Can get router to connect to Internet

Cathy, your router does not connect to the internet, your modem does. Are you trying to use wireless, or is it hard wired like using an eithernet cord? If so then make sure the eithernet cable is hooked up properly and that it is goodIf it is good then try to connect your modem directly to your computer by using the eithernet cable. If that works then you know that the signal from and too your computer is working properly. Next go to your control panel and open network and sharing center. Go to set up a new connection. If that doesn't work then you might suspect a defective router. By the way has it worked before or is this a new setup?

In order to help you through this you need to be more specific with what is going on with your system. What brand of router is it? Depending on what brand there is a web address you can use to be able to access your modem.

Good luck,

Marty

Maybe the laptop is configured by default to look for a wireless signal through its wifi drivers, or a different previously installed modem. Go to your Computer/Control Panel/Network Sharing Center and set up a new connection there so your computer knows what to do.

My dell is telling me windows did not detect any networking hardware how do i go about fixing this problem

by making sure your wireless card or eithernet card still has working drivers installed in windows or mac

Please check by going to control panel, system, then Device manager to see if there are any issues with your eithernet or wierless drivers.

If you see any red "X"'s where the names of the wireless or ethernet cards are, you need to reinstall the drivers again. Go to the manufature's web site to pickup the drivers and reinstall them.

If that does not work either a malicous softwrae is preventing you from getiing into internet or the cards are broken and need replacing.

Let me know how it goes

Is there anyway to get my internet to work without having a driver?

Hi friend,

This is not posible becouse if you want to use in your ssytem, you need to install eithernet drivers becouse without LAN or eithernet drivers you not able to show or connect the LAN connection.
When you purchase a system ,you collect a motherboard cd ,eithernet or LAN drivers already present in that CD,if you have not a CD,go to cyber cafe and download the approperiate drives .

Thanks,
