Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
I was working on uploading pictures from my camera, the screen froze and started fading in and out, i went to reboot when I did, the screen stayed black and will not come back on
Sounds like inverter which powers the LCD screen is dead. Try adding an external monitor, if external monitor works (press Fn 4 to toggle between screens) then it's most likely the inverter which is relatively cheap to replace.

What you do is when you switch on your laptop, Try to press F2 to go into BIOS or do anything so that your computer won't boot into windows. My question is incase you're in BIOS setup...can you see anything on screen ??? if no then try to look more seriosly that anything???? if no then last test is to plug external monitor..incase nothing on external monitor also then you've problem with your notebook maybe motherboard or screen problem.
