SA6045: Waiting on USB connection, then nothing

When I power my 6045 on, the screen shows initializing, then GoGear pops up, then after a short pause, it says waiting on USB connection, once I plug it in the screen goes to a hibernation state. My Computer shows it, if I right click on it and then properties, all I get is the battery status, no storage status. Windows Media dosn't recognize it, so it want sync. I deleted the Device manager program from Philips and installed the current Device manager program from there site, still nothing. Should I not se something more from the bootup process, like be able to at least use the FM function? I got this thing for my upcoming deployment and now I don't have time to return it and get it back before I leave. Any other suggestions...

There is a program on the installation CD called the Philips Device Manager - it has a Repair option. If you have lost the CD, you can get the Device Manager from Philips website.

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Computer did not see my Philips GOFEAR SA6045 after installation

Only perform this procedure if you have also downloaded the Device/Firmware Manager from the Philips website first:

Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

Broken go gear

taht - your USB port is not connecting with the GoGear. With GoGear connected,
go to Start -> Control Panel --> system --> hardware --> Device Manager - and find the yellow or red exclamation mark under Universal Serial bus Controllers; right click and update driver

if that still does not work, or no yellow exclamation is present, then runa Repair in Philips Device Manager

dreaming - your GoGear will absolutely support songs from Limewire if they are in mp3 format; if the songs do not show up in Windows Media Player, there is a chance that the computer does not recognize your Gogear:

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Philips 6045 - updating player

Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn it off:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button (if the repair tab does not appear immediately, then connect the disconnected GoGear to the PC temporarily - that should make the Repair tab appear)
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new
