Neither. yellow needs to go to a constant power source and red needs to go to a switched (ignition) power source.

As long as you have connected the ground(black) try adding one wire at a time to the live(red). If possible try connection each wire one at a time to the power line and then both together. If nothing has blown(fuses) and the unit starts working then you can try by trial & error method the remaining wires. You should be able to figure out which wire is required and if there are any extra wires like cellular phone(mute) and then decide whether to connect them or keep them open.....sodeep

Have to manually power on and off

Try to connect the RED and the YELLOW wires from the unit to the ACC ( ignition ) wire. My car has 2 lead wires. I only connected to the ignition wire, and the unit turns on/off with the car. Check the wiring diagram for your car see if it's applicable for you. Good luck.

The yellow wire must be connected to a constant voltage source. You have the red and yellow connected to a voltage source that only gets power when the car is turned on. The yellow wire is for the memory. Check the fuse box for a fuse that has voltage on it when the car is off and the key is not even in the ignition. That is the type of connection the yellow wire needs. The red wire can stay connected to the place it is at now.

Are you using a harness that is made for installing a radio into a 99 neon? They sell them at most all places that sell car stereos. Go in and ask for an installation harness for your car and then you connect it to the harness that comes with your radio by matching the colors of the wires and you have a nice and easy install. It plugs right into the factory harness with all the connections you need.
