    Thanks for your help.

I'm semi-literate on computers, don't know how or where to check my digitized files, how to access Settings on this Mac or how to review my other compression settings.

A few years ago, I successfully converted more than a thousand 45s onto a PC using Terratec, which was cumbersome but effective sound-wise. I downloaded as I went onto an external hard-drive and when I moved house and changed to Mac, I transferred the hard-drive contents onto i-Tunes with no loss in quality. I decided to convert the rest of my singles collection via the Numark TTusb onto the Mac and had done about 20 when I discovered that they were ****. Obviously (?) there's some Settings function in the Mac I haven't triggered...

I'd be grateful of a step-by-step Idiot Guide - don't assume I understand any technical terms!!

    Thanks again,
    John

Assuming from non-response that you either didn't get my more detailed plea for help.... or you don't get involved beyond a single response? John

Thank you. Numark TTusb is supposed to convert vinyl direct on to a computer. I think the problem lies in me not knowing how to configure my computer settings to reproduce decent sound. I think I'll get an amp and try that, since the Numark comes with audio leads as well as the usb.

Sounds like you have a bad ground connection. This is most likely the case if you hear no stereo separation and the vocals almost sound hollow.

First confirm that your digitized files have R & L data, this will confirm you are not missing a 'channel' (keep in mind we are not multitracking here).

Secondly, once satisfied your recording is stereo, resample one, same track using different settings, to hear the differences. Rename the file 'track1_96", track1_160K, etc) Experiment with your sampling frequency - more is not always better! 96K can sound great, so try 96, 128, 160 etc leading upto 384K.

Review your other compression settings. I am prejudiced against Mac, so do I recommend mp3 over their proprietary sh!t. Joint stereo is a fine choice.

Tertiarily, if need be, you may have to run your digitized tunes through something to 'remaster' it (in this case we are just talking about an EQ adjustment.). There are many choices, Digital Audio Tools is great, so is Audacity or Power Sound Editor.

I hope that helps.

Help me with correct driver.

Hello,

Numark NS6 drivers are on Numark web page here

Windows drivers

Mac drivers
If you have issues in Mac OS 10.11 and you have USB 3 ports on your Mac, it is not due to Numark, but to Apple integrating a garbage USB 3.0 driver code in Mac OS kernel of Mac OS 10.11. The solution is to come back to Mac OS 10.10.

Hereafter is a guideline to install the driver.

Make sure there is no dirt or debris stuck in the speak vents. Check the little holes on the sides?

Sound quility is poor on phono side vol., E.Q, channel control are'nt responding properly sound like the sound is up to high

I think that something is wrong. The phono connectors are exclusively for vinyl turntables with phono cartridges. In case you connect a cd player or other compatible source at these connectors the sound is highly destorted and the result is terrible. Could you please clarify me what audio device do you use at the phono input.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

When setting up a sound card to my m4 numark 3 channel mixer do i have the switch to phono or line

"PHONO" is ONLY for an old school turntable that would require a PHONO preamp, so that leaves, uh, LINE.

It's more than a matter of gain as Phono cartridges require special equalization to restore flatness to the sound recorded in a vinyl groove.

I have a g4 desktop and I recently purchased the total control from numark. I came home plugged it in using the USB wire and nothing happened. Is there a step I'm missing? Help

I was just looking at a Total Control...

The unit will not do anything until it sees the host application running on your machine which is Trakor LE or Pro.

Install and launch Trakor then see if it works for you.

You may need to plug the unit into another USB port depending on what else you have plugged in.

Newmark Total Control site: http://www.numark.com/totalcontrol

Minimum System Requirements (MAC):
  • Mac OSX 10.4 or higher
  • G4 1.5 GHz or Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz
  • 512MB RAM
