Anonymous Posted on Aug 30, 2010

Hey palaboy thanks for helping. 1. Could you be more specific with this: "there are ( might be ) to sets of 5V supply. one Direct from SMPS out one coming from the 12V supply " 2. I replaced the original four 100 uf with the 470 uf. I'll do the flash light test and get back to you. 3. The label for this fuse is "F1". How can I make sure it's a fuse? Thanks.

Couldn't find a Panasonic FM/FC series cap in Radio shack nor the local electronics shop, do you now where are they available?

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

Hey guys thank you all for your help, I'm posting a fix:
After removing the regular 470uf cap that I install (not the Panasonic FM/FC series that was recommended) that didn't fix the problem, I install 4, 100uf / 25v, it didn't work either, so I ordered a 470uf Panasonic FM from ebay this morning thinking that it was my last option, but while waiting for shipment to arrive I decided to solder a "bridge" over the F1 fuse that some guys were mentioning, guess what? it worked, I don't need to install the cap that I just ordered from ebay, guess I'll have to keep them in stock for the next monitor.
I have one question though, I'd like to know what is a replacement for this fuse that I can solder on my bridge, I don't like to leave it without the fuse protection. Anybody knows?
    Thanks again.

Comon problem with this model are the 4 bad caps (100Uf) on the inverter board, they developem high ESR and you must replace them with FM/FC PANASONIC with low ESR type, the four bad one has 100uf value whaich checked out OK but the ESR was more than 3 Ohms, I replace them with one 470uf (they use the smaller but with four caps due to spacing requirement becuase this same inverter board is also used in the very low profile monitor they cannot use large body cap, but your monitor chassis has a lot of room for bigger body caps.

F1 is the surface mounted fuse. and it should be less than 1 Ohm.

Needs Service Manual with Schematic diagram of i ball SMPS Model no.LPE 223 - 400

I'm sorry, but I am not able to provide specific service manuals or schematic diagrams for specific products. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer or a authorized service center for assistance with obtaining a service manual or schematic diagram for your specific device. They may be able to provide you with the information you need or point you in the direction of a resource where you can find it.
In general, when troubleshooting issues with a power supply, it can be helpful to check the voltages at various points in the circuit to determine where the problem is occurring. If you are not getting the expected voltages at certain points in the circuit, it may indicate a problem with the power supply or with components downstream of the power supply. You can use a multimeter to measure the voltages and compare them to the values specified in the service manual or schematic diagram to help diagnose the issue.

Standby 5V overvoltage (8-9 volts instead of 5): what's probably damaged?

  • Check the voltage on the Power supply. (5V STB is on pin no. 9).
  • Check the voltage (on pin no. 9) from the back of the motherboard on ATX socket.
  • Check the voltages on the Front Panel connector for 3.3v, 5v and ground.
  • Check for shorting by placing one probe of multimeter on the ground and the other one by one in pin no. 1,2, 4, 6, 8,9,10,11,12,14,19,20 also on the CPU connector. If there is shorting the problem is with some component on the motherboard.
I think probably the Power Supply (SMPS) is faulty.

Hope that helps.

TV cannot turn on

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Action-3: Replace the main board!!!

I have a hitachi 55pma550 plasma tv.when I turn on the main switch red light comes on standby. But when I turn on tv the red red light on stand by turns green only for 10 seconds and goes red no picture...

It's most likely the smps. You'll first need to check voltages at CN63, pin #1-(+5v), 3-(+3.3v) and pin 8-(+6v) Also check CNPPS, pin 1-(+30v), 4-(+5v), 8-(+12v), 12-(+10v) absent these values and the power supply is clearly the problem.

50 in lg plasma wont turn on just clicks

hi,
you have to check the power supply first.

As u mentioned about the click sound, the 5v standby supply is ok. The click sound you hear is from the standby relay.
you have to check the other power supplies in the SMPS (switch mode power supply board) board.
first of all check the standby supply 5v on tne pin of connector P800. check the voltage at this point in standby condition and at the time of power on. it should stay at 5v. if it reduces the you have to check the components related with standby SMPS transformer T501.

If the 5v volt is ok the u have to check the 3.4 v at the pin 1 and 2 of connector P802, at the time of power on. if it is missing then check the components related to T112 ,also check the following voltages at the same power on condition.

19v at Pin 1and 2 of P803
6v at the pin 5 and 6 of P802
12v at the pin 9and 10 of P802

check these to verify your tv's power supply
proper care should be taken while working with power supply, because there is risk of getting electric shock.
if you need any more assistance fell free to contact me through fixya.
I have with me its field service manual ( does not have any schematics) if u need that i will sent it to you, if u give me your email id through fixya.

Computer won't power up

Make off power.
Remove the RAM.
Check the beepcode occurs or not.
If beepcode is long then RAM DEFECTIVE.
===> Erase to polish contacts of RAM with soft white presto eraser.
If beepcode not sound, open Processor and recheck. same.
If again negative, just short green and black wire of SMPS after opening from motherboard. SMPS must start and check all voltages. If not start SMPS Defective.

Please give your feedback so that further repaire can be made.
