Roland SC-540 I have quite a big problem on my hands. I don't know how many of you out there are printing on these large format printers to know what i am talking about. The vinyl that I was printing on was loaded bit skew so the media pushed the media clamp on the right side of the printer further till it almost came off, where it 'tilted' and thats when the head connected it. I can see upon close inspection tiny marks on the print head surface on all of them. I had the one replaced that looked the worse. The test print shows all the colours with maybe 1 or 2 stripes missing from each printed colour. Does that mean trouble? Do I have to end up replacing all the heads? It is ridiculously expensive. Is there a way of just replacing the 'surface' plate of the head if you understand what I mean. Please help

Hey there, i have two printers, the SC-540, and a VP-540, I love both of them, as if they were my children, the thing is you have to take care of the printer, i dont know what machine you use, but if you have read the manual they continuously refer to the heads as consumables, and that you have to replace them from time to time, now that time depends on how well you look after your machine, i have used some heads less than 6 months bofore replacing, and some kept on working for more than 2 years. it sure is expensive, but you will defenitely see the difference, a short term solution for you problem is to print on a higher resolution, of higher quality. Now that all depends on the type of rip software you use, if you use something like versaworks, you can adjust the quality only, but if you use colorip, you can set the print mode, quality, resolution etc....

a higher resolution can sort out the stripes, but you cant just replace parts of the head, you have to replace the whole head, now, if you use the sc540, you have 6 heads, if you replace them, let the techinician upgrade your machine to the sc540EX, then you can print from versaworks, which is much easier to use than colorip, but you have less tuning options. When upgrading the machine to the EX, you have to switch head positions, so it makes it worth while to replace the heads and upgrade the machine. The upgrading is not supposed to cost a lot of money as it is merely a set of switches you have to set on the main board, but while you do that, you can just as well give it a major service and then you the high cost will be worth while.

Hi there.. Im working with a roland soljet sc

Bitmaps (.bmp) - are all black and white so if you can change the brightness in Canvas or Corel or ImageFolio until there are no shades and then save it as a bitmap or WMF you might be able to print it correctly.

Have a Roland SP 540 V Eco Sol MAx printer/cutter. Magenta/Yellow print head clogged (hadn't been used in a few weeks) can't seem to get the ink to flow in those heads! Any idea other than head...

you should have to use the syringe method to **** the ink before anything, then make a powerful cleaning, test, you may have to do it several cleanings and should be solved.
