Question about Dell XPS M1330 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Dell XPS M1330. There is no way to power up it. When I plug in the power adapter, and switch on the main power, the LED on the adapter goes off and of course, nothing happens on the notebook. I have tried using another power adapter, it behaves the same way. Any pointers?

With the M1330 the power button is on the hinge cover strip, I'd replace that 1st. If that fails, then it is motherboard time

The sreen of my DELL XPS M1330 suddenly does not lght up!

It can be either the display is dead or it is a loose connection. If you are still covered by warranty then I would suggest you to contact the dell technical support. They will replace the part for you.
However if you don't have a warranty then you can buy this part from dell online store (the display) and you can fix it on your own - http://ahwee.com/how-to-disassemble-laptop-dell-xps-m1330 follow the instructions here to dismantle your laptop and refix it with the new parts. If you find any troubles doing so; please let me know; I will help you further.

The most common problem is a loose DC connector on the system board. If you plug in the adapter and wiggle it slightly. If you can move it, that means that the DC connector is indeed loose. You have to take the unit apart and resolder the connector.

Dell XPS M1330 doesn't recognize original power cord after 2 yrs

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

Led backlight on display for m1330 xps dell

This model laptop uses a CCFL lamp for the backlight, it does not use LEDs for backlighting.
The CCFL lamp is attached to an inverter which supplies high voltage to this lamp.
For details on how to install and or replace CCFL lamps go to
www.lcdparts.net for information and parts.

I assume you are not replacing the whole LCD screen.

Xps m1330 doesnt work?

Remove the battery, and unplug to turn it completely off. then plug everything back in and restart if you still have a black screen it could be your LCD going out. which is a very expensive replacement part.
