Reboot your PC and immediately start tapping the F8 key, then choose to start in safe mode. Now click the start button, then click run. Type MSCONFIG and choose startup programs and disable all startup programs and see if it boots ok. If it does you can retype msconfig and one at a time re-enable your startup programs until you find the one that makes your PC hang and reboot, Keep that one turned off after you find it, and re-enable the rest of your startup items.

Describe your STEPS TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP IN COMPAQ CQ40-616TU Problem

I assume you know how to get into the BIOS screen. If not watch carefully while the system boots. It will tell you which key to press. It could be del(delete) or F2 or F8. Once you know that, shut down the system. wait about 30 seconds. Turn the computer on. Immediately start pressing the key to get into BIOS. Once in, change the sequence of boot device from Hard disk to CD drive. save and exit. open the cd tray put your XP CD in it. switch off the system. Write down the CD key on a sheet of paper. It is a 20 character long code. You will find it on the back of the PC. switch on the computer. Your computer will boot from the CD and give you the installation screen. Select fresh installation. Let it complete. It may ask a few questions like your name, computer name domain etc. You may name it as you wish.

HP external 1040 dvd writer

The Nero software came with InCD, which is a program that allows you to drag files directly onto the CD without having to run CD burning software. It's a novel idea, but I don't think it works all that well. If you're not planning to use it, then uninstall it. If you can't find it in the "Add/Remove programs" list, then you may have to uninstall the Nero software and then reinstall it but unselect to have the InCD software installed.

Hi PC;
try booting up in safe mode then shutdown from there, see if you still hang on the blank blue screen.

to go to safe mode, tap F8 when your pc is booting up.

Won't read Nero 7 Installation CD

Firstly ensure the drive letter is correct for your dvd drive, if you still have an old drive fitted as well this new one the drive letter will probably be E:\. It may be that the bios is not seeing the correct dvd drive. On boot up press F2 or DEL, this will take you to the 'standard cmos settings' line. Highlight this line and press enter. You should then see a list of drives attached to your pc, normally pressing F3 or a similair command(depending on motherboard it will tell you how to do this on bottom of screen) detects all drives. Otherwise go to each line Pri, Sec etc, and press enter on each to see what appears. When you see your dvd drive is recognised, press F10, this will save and force a re boot. Also try right clicking on your DVD drive and go to properties, there should be a tab saying enable writing on this drive, but be cautious as Windows Writing programme may take over from Nero. Problem with burning dvd on imation dual layer dvd burner

You seem to have a related problem, you can't burn cd's and you cannot install windows without an error. Either your hard drive has a bad sector where it keeps trying to write the data or your dvd drive has a reading error. Firstly check your hard drive for errors, right click on your 'c' drive and down to properties, then click on tools tab, then error checking. This can take quite a while, so be patient. Secondly, there have been numerous updates from Nero especially related to Service Pack 2 so download the latest updates from their 'Ahead Nero' website, they are free as you are'nt upgrading just updating.
