    Thanks for the prompt answer.

Maybe my question was not clear. I want to burn existing music from my Microsoft Media Player on a DVD disc because of the capacity. It should hold more songs. The regular CD disc only holds about 23 songs.

    Regards

The data on the DVD disk are video and audio, on the cd is only the audio, that's why the difference in capacity, in just a few words. You can use some software combinations in order to rip (extract) the whole movie from the DVD at your computer's hard disk, get the audio data from this file, cut the parts that you like, save as audio file(s) and burn the audio files as common audio cd. As you can imagine it's a bit complicated procedure (not much, just a bit) so I have to know that you really want to do so in order to give you further details. Also I need to know what kind of programs (about DVD ripping and audio editing - recording) you already have in order to guide you through programs that are familiar to you (if any). Also keep in mind that according to the laws you must be the owner of the original DVD title in order to go ahead.
Sorry to put the things in the proper order but that's the way that has to be done.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Where do you want to be played the DVD project? I have to clarify to you that the audio cd players are not capable of playing DVD disks whatever is the data in the disk. In other words audio cd players are not able to read the DVD disks. So, if I've got your point, if you write songs from your hard disk on a DVD disk they will not be able to be played at your car audio cd player; they will be played ok on any computer based system.

My cd player taked forever to start playing my burned cd

2001, jeep, "new technology on old IRON?"
burned, burned what? did you RIP a CDDA disc to CDR
or burn a bunch of MP3? , my guess you RIPPED it.?

you expect burned CD to work? CDR or CDRW?
if you read the product datasheet for the actual player it will
list all formats that work (few) back then. RBB was zero.
its not weird, it's history,
there are many formats, for CD.
car CD began with CDDA, discs (like sold on the shelf in a store)
those are not file formatted, its track formatted like an an old LP album. (wiki CDDA)
then came file formats. (vast types. MP3 tops.)
there are 3 levels here.
CDR format.
then file types
last music encoding formats(complex)_ask
i can tell you that not all formats are supported on old cars. few to none.
some do SEEM? to work, but are flaky
and after 13years, not at all or more falky, (weak laser, optics dirty)

why not up grade and use USB sticks. ?????
CDs are pretty dead now.

which player, there are many? in dash.?
http://www.wjjeeps.com/radios.htm#AMFMCD

note the lack of CDR play back ( and all others) until 2002.
and even the 2002 is limited.
all car head ends are limited.
for max files.
max folder.s
max files in folder.

just because a CDR pays in a head end that does not support it
means ZERO, as some heads can see some data and attempt to play it blindly, it's just a very dumb headend. (dumb to a fault)

there are endless posts of users trying 100s of ways to fool it
some can,/ most can't (but is not supported so......)

if really curious. post head end ID , like RBB?
we can get the full spec. on that head.

and this,?
http://www.kigmaradioshop.com/servlet/the-46/RBN-RBB-P04858584AE-P04858584AH/Detail

my new jeep supports all these , yours dont
Supported formats are: CDDA, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3,WMA, DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and CDDA+MP3
(this support is progressive from 2002 to present day)

does that help>/?
if not post head end pn. or series class.

What do i need for a computer to start burning or to creat a cd/mp3/dvd .

First you need music to put on the CD. You can put your own music CD in the drive and run Windows Media Player and rip them to your hard drive (copies them). After you get all the songs you want onto your hard drive, you can make an audio CD if you ripped the songs as WAV files (this CD can be played in most CD players) or you can make an MP3 CD if you ripped the songs as mp3 files (this CD can only be played in CD players that support the MP3 standard). To make the audio CD or MP3 CD, just download the free program called BurnAware from the internet and run it. Insert a blank recordable CD in your computer, choose Audio CD or MP3 CD, then choose the songs you want and burn the CD. That's it.

How do i get my th-a9r to play dvd-rw

You can't. The Laser will only Play +R & +RW.

Non-playable discs

• DVD-ROM • DVD-RAM • DVD-R • DVD-RW
• CD-R* • CD-ROM • PHOTO CD • CD-RW*

* Audio formatted CD-R and CD-RW can be played.

• Playing back discs list as "Non-playable discs" above may
generate noise and damage speakers.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

Where to find a CD-R longer than 80 minutea and way to burn it

You can't, that is the maximum for a CD-R or a CD+R = approx 700Mb capacity.
DVD-R and DVD+R have a capacity of 4.5Gb
Depending upon the type of data files you want to burn, there are compression techniques you and apply and then burn them to a CD.
For example you can convert CDs to mp3 music files and burn them onto a CD-+R disk. You can fit 12 to 16 CDs albums in mp3 format on a single CD-+R disc, but your CD player needs to be a MP3 player to play these music files.

Blu ray disc

BlueRay is a new high capacity disk storage media system. It has a much greater capacity than any of the other systems.

The blue laser light is of a much narrower beam width and higher speed computing technology, it is possible to now have a much greater capacity for data speed handling and data capacity.

All the new High Definition movies are coming out on BlueRay disks. To play these disks, a BlueRay player will be necessary.

The technology is moving at a faster rate all the time. In about five years, there is a newer system coming out that will even be ahead of the BlueRay. They are working on a new generation high speed plug-in memory modules at the consumer level. These modules will have their own full function microcontroler built in. The data will be using internal fiber optical pathways instead of metal conductive pathways. These will be much farther ahead than anything we have now.
