Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One Scan/Copy/Fax and Photo Printer

Copier/Scanner All pages are black. there is no more light as work is copied or scanned. Direct printing is ok. I think "light bulb" needs to be replaced. If I'm right , where do I get replacement and how do I open up machine?

The scanner model is the 7170

I am working on getting you a part number and will get it asap.

The printer shouldn't be too hard to open. Screws on the outside and I can help you along the way

So after calling Lexmark, this is what I was told.

You can't get a replacement part, they don't sell them.

I spoke to Nathan and he told me to call 1-800-358-5835 where you can tell them that he said that you can get, if you ask, 20% off and get free shipping on any All in one Inkjet printer of your choosing which may require you to trade this one in but there isn't much other options unless you can find another one to salvage parts off of since I couldn't find any place otherwise that sells that specific part.

Let me know what you think, I am always happy to hear a little feedback

When i print out a paper, there is a black line through the print out.

I am assuming your black line is printed (not smudged ink)...
If your printer is also scanner/copier, try copying a page (rather than printing from computer).
If it scans & prints ok, it could be communication/driver problem. Try reloading the drivers and see if it improves. If the black line is there when copying as well, there's probably not much you can do about it.

hope this helps

Konika Minolta Copier prints half dark pages

If it is only causing an image problem when you copy and not when you print, then there is something wrong with the optics under the glass. Check and see if you have any mirrors out of place or if the scanner looks crooked. If you have the machine set up to scan try and scan to SMB or email to see if it still has the problem. If everything looks correct under the glass and scans to SMB and email look bad like the copies, you may have a bad CCD assembly, or a bad board.

HP 3055 All In One laserjet prints all black pages

Odds are that you have a bad toner cartridge; especially common when using remanufactured cartridges. (Staples, Corporate Express, etc.) Replace your cartridge with an OEM HP cartridge and you should be OK.

When copy a document, it will scan but the print out page is blank. I tried replacing the toner but got the same problem. The unit is still 3 months old so i think the drum is still ok.

I know it sounds simple, but do you notice the scanner light on? Open the cover and try a "sky shot." The copier should print out a black page. You'll also see whether or not the light is on and the scanner is moving.

Scanner and copier do not work

In your case, the scanner light is not lit during the scan or copy. If you print something from the pc, it would print just fine. Try to powercycle the printer, then try copying again. If it persist, scanner is defective but you may still use it to print from pc.

Copier feature (Black or Color) only produces a Black page

I beleive you are not able to make a color copy, once try to scan from the computer or all-in-one to check whether the scanner mechanism is working properly or not, if the scan comes out fine then remove the color cartridge and clean the copper contacts of the cartridge with soft cotton cloth and also check the ink level of the cartridge, if the issue persists replace the color cartridge and if even the scan does not comes out good then there is an issue with the scanner mechanism.

Scanned documents are very light

I have found that when scanning b/w documents, its helpful to start with a black and white copy, not a grayscale, pen written, or printed form a printer in grayscale mode copy, but a true black and white on the copier or fax copy. The scanner doesnt read shades of black so well and when scanning multiple page documents, my pixma tends to scan in lightly. I havent found a piece of software to do just this, batch darken what has been scanned (at least not for free). Copying before scanning is the work around. Hope this helps everyone who's had this problem. It also doesnt hurt to darken what your scanning down a notch when copying
