Question about Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook

1 Answer

I've got an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop. During the rainy season when there is more humidity in the air (I'm living in Himalayan Heights in North of India) the LCD screen gets sometimes into a strange mode. On the white background areas it shows flimmering strong pinky-red pattern and on the black areas flimmering strong neon-green pattern. For example when the Windows is booting up, the whole background on the first screen with Acer logo is pink, and then when Windows logo is visible during booting up, the background is green (instead of black). Once the Windows is fully booted, the same colours are appearing in applications' windows that have white or black backgrounds. When I run a room heater for a while during the day and/or run some CPU demanding programs that tend to increase the internal heat (e.g. antivirus scanning for 1-2 hours) then the display goes back to normal. Sometimes it stays in the normal mode for longer time, sometimes goes back to distorted colours next time I boot up. When I do SHIFT Print Screen at that times (or capture the screen with a software), the graphic file that is generated shows just normal colours. Sometimes the screen would not show anything at all, but then after a while it goes back into the above mentioned way of display. An external LCD screen shows always everything in normal colours. What is this problem possibly caused by? How to fix it? Is there any part that is faulty? Thank you very much.

This is a defect in the LCD panel itself - the layers of the screen are starting to get squished one on top of each other . This is done by the air pressure , heating the laptop locally lowers that and the screen goes back to normal.
The problem is unfixable and it's only gonna go worse. You need to replace the LCD screen of the laptop. The only place you will find it for sure is a Acer service shop so take your laptop to one.

Yes, if you put the laptop in front of a heater  the LCD panel will work as it should for a while. But not too close otherwise you would get even worse problem in the panel - the pixel cells will dilate so much that they will leak, destroying the panel. And remember that the problem will go worse, never better, so start saving for a replacement.

Cracked lcd sct reen acer aspire 5315 model

I would start by doing a search on Ebay. Often times you can get parts or a damaged laptop with parts for a very reasonable price. I just did a search for your laptop model and found a damaged Acer Aspire 5315 for $81. As of this posting on 10/31 at 9:10 am CST time, the auction ends in 2 hrs.

After doing a quick internet search, I found a web site called http://www.screencountry.com and I saw a monitor for your model listed at $99.

How do i do recovery on my acer aspire 5315-2153

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
And the next method you may need to use system restore at the first time you’ve got your Acer 5315 laptop. Here are steps to follow:
Log on as the Administrator => Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => and click the System Restore. System restore will run and here you should see the Welcome System Restore page appear. Click Restore my computer button to an early time if it’s not already
selected. Click next to continue the steps.
There is on your Acer 5315 laptop screen a Restore Point page appear, you can select it and then click the most recent system checkpoint it, click a restore point list. After you click the Next button,System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that
System Restore will create. Click OK.
For the last step click next button on the Confirm Restore PointSelection page. Now the ‘System Restore’ will restore the previous Windows XP configuration on your Acer 5315 OS system. Just finish it by restarts your Acer laptop.
Now log on again to your Acer 5315 PC Notebook as Administrator and watch the System Restore Restoration Complete page appears. Click OK.
