Re: pulling the cartridge
There are chances that you will damage the teeth where you insert the card, if the teeth manage to get damaged no other games will work on your ds except advance games, I've seen it happen, still gives me nightmares and man it isn't pretty

Happens sometimes it is one of two things: 1) When you put the DS back together is the ribbon from the top screen wound to tightly as this can cause the ribbon to pull out slightly from the socket on the motherbaord causing the blackout. 2) I have seen this happen only once before! The plsatic of the shell had a small chip where the battery connectors from the motherboard stick through into the battery compartment. THis tiny piece of plastic was stopping the final connection between battery and DS. Drove me mad, did all the usuals checked battery connections etc. Worht a look.
get yourself a damp cotton bud and wipe the contacts inside the cartridge and around the ds be careful so you dont put any water inside. you can also use rubbing alchohol. if it is happening on numerous cartridges then it could be a broken contact look at them to see if any1 is missing.
with out using any solvents use a damp cotton bud and wipe the contacts iv used this idea on nearly every console iv had with cartridges. you will be surprised the amount of dirt which gets on the contacts
I'm not to familiar with the DS's but i beleive that is how they are supposed to boot if a cartridge is already in the unit. If not then there may be an option when booting without a cartridge where you can change the settings so that it will boot to the main DS screen before booting the game. I would check this first then seek further help from a more adequate expert on here.
Hi. the same thing sometimes happens to me. but i find if i remove the cartridge and blow into it and the slot on the DS then insert the cartridge firmly back into the slot it will work. it seems that even the smallest speck of dust will affect it.
