Hi,
As the container got melt down the strains will remain for few days. You keep on using the cleaners and it will gradually go off.And for removing the smell please place a cut piece lemon when the oven is not in use. This will gradually remove the smell from the oven.
Thank You

Welcome to FixYa Dear User If the inside of your microwave oven is already dirty, mix a cleaning solution of 3 tablespoons of baking soda and a pint of warm water. Use the baking soda and water mixture to wipe down the inside walls of your microwave with a paper towel. Another method is to take a couple tablespoons of baking soda and put in a microwave safe cup. Pour in some water and stir it up. Place it in the microwave oven and turn it on. You want to get the water in the cup to boil for 3 to 5 minutes. The inside walls of the microwave should be damp and very easy to wipe down with a sponge or paper towel. In order to eliminate odors in your microwave oven between cleanings, try storing an open container of baking soda inside. Just be sure to remove it before cooking anything, then place it back inside when you are done. Baking soda is all you need to keep your microwave oven clean and smelling fresh. It is an everyday item you probably already have, and it's not harmful to the environment! Thanks for Connecting FixYa

Since you used bleach and I don't know what spray-ons,but it doesn't sound good,I would definitely replace it.Also with the smell and discoloration,it will be there a long time, especially since the container melted. If you have any birds, they need to go outside or in the garage, something, overnight and leave on the oven vent fan overnight. If you just got it,can you exchange it and tell them you couldn't turn it off or something? Also, bleach is okay for surfaces, but nothing you cook on or in.If the manufacturer says it is okay,I probably still wouldn't because bleach is very harsh if ingested.Good luck! My GE OTR Microwave Model # JVM3670SK02 overheated when I tried to cook rice for 30 minutes...two times in a row. What could be the problem?

why are you cooking rice for 30 minutes in a microwave????? the problem is that a microwave IS NOT A RICE COOKER!!!use a rice cooker or use instant rice and heat the water for 2 1/2 minutes only!! OR BURN DOWN YOUR HOUSE!!

I just bought a new rice cooker container for my family to cook rice. It saids use one cup of rice with 1 and a half of water and microwave for ten minutes. Then thought I use 3 cup of rice then must...

you do not need to triple the time when tripling the quantities, example: one baked potato = 8 min, 2 = 10 min,3= 12 min ....

sounds like a triple batch is a bit much for your microwave
so you may want to cut it in half

My microwave is completely dead. I have checked the fuse in the plug and it is fine. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What you are to do to solve the problem is to do a general troubleshooting on your oven below are instruction to follow.

The Microwave is a counter top model with a variety of preset cooking options, including timed cooking at a variety of power levels and sensor-cooking settings for popcorn, rice, beverages and single-serving reheating.

The sensor cooking and reheating features detect increasing humidity levels inside the microwave and automatically adjust cooking time for various types and amounts of food. This microwave also includes a turntable and an electronic control panel.

Instructions below are step by step solution for your oven

  1. Check to see if the microwave will start. If it will not start and the display panel is blank, you may have a power problem. Unplug the microwave and then plug it back in, making sure that all three prongs of the power cord are fully inserted into the wall outlet. If this doesn't work, check your home's fuse box. Reset the circuit breaker to restore if necessary.
  2. Ensure that the microwave door is fully closed. Press the Clear/Off button to cancel any previous cooking instructions. Re-enter your cooking program, including cooking time and food weight if necessary, and press Start.
  3. If "Err" appears on the microwave display, press the Clear/Off button and reenter your cooking program. The "Err" message will appear during the sensor-controlled programs (Popcorn, Rice, Beverage or Reheat) if the door is opened before steam is detected or if no steam was detected within the maximum amount of time allowed by the microwave. Be sure to leave the door closed during these programs, at least until time is shown counting down on the display panel.
  4. If your control panel will not work or if an "L" is displayed on the screen, press and hold the Clear/Off button for a full three seconds to unlock the control panel.
  5. If your sensor reheat program is resulting in under- or overcooked food, first try decreasing the amount of food in the microwave; the sensor programs are designed for single servings of food. The sensor reheat function works by measuring humidity inside the microwave--do not use a tightly-covered dish with this setting because no moisture will be able to escape and the food will overcook. Be sure that cooking containers are dry; moist containers will increase the humidity in the microwave and mislead the sensor, resulting in undercooked food.
  6. If your turntable is not rotating, first check to ensure that your food container is positioned so that it can freely rotate without hitting the microwave's interior walls; using a smaller food container can fix this problem. If the turntable still will not rotate, lift the turntable from its support and replace it carefully, ensuring that it rests evenly on its support.
Good luck.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Damaged door on microwave

Buy a detector to test your microwave to be sure it is not leaking radiation. The detectors range in price from ten dollars to about thirty five dollars and can be purchased in most hardware stores. If you discover that the microwave is leaking radiation, never try to repair this appliance yourself. Take the microwave to a professional for repair. All things considered though, the microwave oven is fairly inexpensive these days it may be a better idea to just purchase a new one.
