Asus Republic G60Jx-RBBX05. I5-M430. I am trying to find out for sure whether this system has a Quad core. I have looked and looked and get mixed info. I was told by an associate from best buy that it was a Quad. I am upgrading the system today to 8Gb of ram. I have win 7- 64bit. I just would love to know for sure if I got 4 cores or 2. Thanks

The easiest solution is to run a cpu id program like CPU-Z - it will tell you everything you need to know about your processor.

    The Intel quad cores provide a maximum clocking speed of around 3 Ghz which is comparable to the high end dual and is a lot more expensive than Intel dual cores. With a greater (12 Mb) L2 cache, the processing speed is indeed enhanced for the quad. However, you won't see the difference in the operation of a high end Intel dual core and a Intel quad, unless you run graphic intensive applications or application that use up substantial processing power.
    If you make a comparison between dual core vs quad core processors, in terms of 3D graphic intensive gaming, the quad processors are clear winners. Due to their higher multitasking ability and the multithreading capacity of 3D gaming softwares, quad processors can easily handle graphic intensive gaming.

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9300 GRAPHIC MEDIA

The Core 2 Quad Q9300 does not provide any graphics hardware, only newer CPUs, e.g. Core i3/i5/i7 (and not even all of these) do.

You need to buy a dedicated graphics card and put it into your computer. Installation instructions and driver software usually come together with the card and are specific to the exact brand and model you choose, plus is dependent on your operating system.

Without more information on the exact hardware and software configuration of your computer I cannot give you more help.

Your card requires a 450w power supply and depnding on what you do with it, it may be pushing your PSU. I would try upgarding you VGA driver first here;
http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/
choose your o/s, Vista and Windows 7 are the same. You may have to uninstall previous graphics driver for this to work. If you haven't upgraded in a while, this will probably solve your problem.

Can any1 tell the problems in intel core 2 quad processor???????????????//////////

There are no problems reported so far from regular users. Note that older software might have some incompatibility issues but this is very unlikely to cause you any trouble.

Before making any purchase use this website to check whether it is compatible with your current motherboard (also if you plan to buy one).

Also make sure you get it properly seated by a qualified technician or if you are doing it yourself make sure that you apply the proper thermal paste and the fan heat sink is properly seated. Incorrect installation can lead to instant thermal degradation and is NOT covered by the warranty.

If you plan to make your own custom system I suggest you check this website out.

I'd ask your professors which one they recommend and if they don't have a recommendation ask them what they use or better yet what they would like to use if they could afford it!
good colleges should recommend a compatible laptop that will easily sync with their school system!

The onboard battery that keeps the CMOS or BIOS settings is bad. It's a large flat battery that looks a lot like a watch battery just larger. Carefully remove it and get a replacement. Numbers for the replacement should be on top of the old battery.
