Need settings for carb jet screws and float setting


the float doesnt have a setting,if it has gas in it,then it will stay down,allowing gas into the motor without stopping,have the float weighed,the screws screw in all the way,NOT TIGHT,or you will ruin the seat and screw,then unscrew 1 1/4 turns

Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns it takes to lightly seat the idle mixture screw and high speed needle adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know how many turns from the seated position to open the jets when you go to reinstall them, or if you remove them for cleaning or replacement.
If you have aready tried to adjust them then the adjustments below should get it running for you for final adjustment when warm.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.
Alway use the "lightly seated" method if you have not changed the screw settings.

Idle adj screw vibrates out and the idle speed is high.

When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their original position before you started.
Make sure your spring that goes on the idle screw is in place.
You can also use some "locktite" thread locking compound on the threads of the needle if the spring is missing.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.

Sitting for while pulled carbys apart washed cleaned reset mix screws 2 half turns, up size exhaust with reverse condes on now, back firing on deconpression.


sounds like your running lean. start with your main jet/needle adj. make sure the bike is pulling hard the WHOLE way to red. after you have that you can work the pilot jet and air fuel screw. Now do you have your air fuel screws 2 half turns out from dead bottom make it one full turn, or 2 full turns and one half from dead bottom. if you have not installed a jet kit there is where you need to start. and please dont forget to sync your carbs when your done.
If you can give me the jet sizes, needle settings and air/fuel screw setting. and we will get this worked out

Can i adjust the carbs on my 2001 yamaha r1 to run a bit richer what should i do cause my bike is running lean over 8000rpm


there is a fuel screw at the bottom of the carb, i would close it (turn it in) all the way, and then back the screw out 1 and a half turns, then go from there, if it is still too lean, turn the screw out 1/4 turn more, and then again if still too lean. has anything been done to the bike, new after market exaust? because then maybe you need to rejet the carb to get fuel to the engine a little faster. you can get a jet set....all the jets that match from moose racing. the jet sets are packaged as a kit. you would get a new needle jet, main jet, pilot jet, air jet. but befor you go through all that i would tinker with the fuel screw.

I have a primary jet and secondary jet in the carburator of the 500 gl silverwing . and the jets I have is 75 and 125 which goes where . and what should be the setting on the air jet ?


The secondary main jet (125) goes into the jet needle holder in the center of the carb (needle). The primary main jet (75) is between the secondary main jet and the pilot screw (this one is slightly off center) . The start setting for your air screw should be 1 3/4 turns. Warm up your engine and drive for ten minutes. Adjust your idle speed to 1100 + or - 100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in or out to get highest idle speed. Readjust idle to 1100 rpm. Now turn pilot screw in till idle speed drops 100 rpm. If pilot screw seats go to next step. Adjust the pilot screw out 1 full turn from 100 rpm drop point. Now reset Idle to 1100 rpm. That is how Honda says to set your air screw. Standard setting is probably sea level and going through the procedure will set you up for the altitude where you ride. Do the adjustment during good weather at the altitude you plan to do the most riding.

Tt-r 125 e carburetor adjustment My son tried to clean the carburetor and set all the jets and screws tight. What do I set which jet at ?


The air screw and throttle screw are the only settings on the carb. Bear in mind they only screw in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. This is the factory setting. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.


If the screw adjusters were screwed in tight they will likely need to be replaced. The end of the screws will have a depression ring and that little ring can screw up the carb.

Engine not running


Your carb should have another jet. What you cleaned was the main jet in the center of the carb. There should be another jet called a pilot jet. Often it has a metal plug covering it up so the setting can not be changed at that point. Instead, they want you to change the setting with the pilot air screw. In each case, if you remove the screw, count the number of turns for removal and put the screw back the same number of turns.

The pilot jet controls the idle. It picks up gas from the float bowl then the gas gets metered by the jet and the air screw then passes through a circuit (drilled passageway), in the carb casing and comes out in the center of the carb close to the needle jet. You will need to get the jet and circuit cleaned.

look by the carboreter and there is a little screw with a spring. turn the screw a half turn and try to start it, then try another half turn, and keep expirementing.
