If you remove the cartridges you will see a coper with fine pins sticking out. use alcohol or spirit on a cloth and rub the pins gently then use same process on the cartridge side were the pins meet.

I am not sure what kind of printer you are talking about but if it's inkjets use rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

Use a damp cloth just water, which should solve the problem.

Blurry colorwashed photos from canon pixma pro9000. What can I do to fix this?

Hi there, I located this video about removing the print head and cleaning it. I've had to clean my print head from time to time, so take a look at this video and see if it can give some help. Your printer might not look exactly the same, but you should be able to remove the print head. If cleaning the print head doesn't clean up the color issue, try contacting Cannon support: Canon Contact Us. I wish you best of luck!

How to clean canon iX5000 print heads print nozzles etc ive got white lines appearing in the prints

Hi, Try first with cleaning tests on maintenance mode.Make sure all cartridges are not empty. If not help try manually cleaning.Open the cover and first remove the ink cartridges. Then open the holder and remove the print head.Run hot tap water and put the print head with the nozzles up to stream water.Hold that 5 mins then turn the print head around with the nozzles down.Hold that for every color of 5 mins. Then put the print head in hot water with the nozzles down.Left it water about 15 mins and then you must very nice to dry. When the print head dry put it in printer and start cleaning. If this not help you need to replace the print head. Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.

In print test, seems some nozzels of the black print head are clogged. how can I clean them? I understand the ink cartridge and the print head are seperate. so how to get and disassembled the head and with...

You need to dissasembly the hole printer to take out the print head.In case you wish to do this don't use alcohol. Use hot water or some degreaser.
Principle from Brother claim in genuine cartridge have a unclogged preparation. If you don't use a genuine cartridge buy one black, put it on printer, start cleaning and wait for one day.The nozzle will unclogged, but this is not 100% sure.

OK, Canon will hate me for posting this!!!!!

Remove cartridges.
Remove print head.
Go to sink or tub (stianless steel, not pastic type), pick up roll of paper towel on the way.
Fold several layers of paper towel and place on flat surface.
Run HOT water till HOT.
Turn hot water to dribble.
Run hot water through print head, careful not to wet contacts.
When water is clear coming through print head, place print head on paper towel.
Repeat process until no colour on paper towel.
DAB print head (DO NOT WIPE) inside and out to dry.
You may wish to let print head air dry overnight but I replace it after drying.
Replace print head in printer and replace cartridges.
Start printing again
I do this on all my Canon printrs every 6 months
