Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA and
the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

MSI K8T Neo-2 motherboard beeps when turned on. Initially froze in windows splash screen. Wheen had rebooted just beeps, not bios or anything to the monitor screen.

The Beeps at start up usually signify a memory fault. You may have a failed RAM stick and just swapping slots will give you the same problem. Get a known good stick and fit it in place of all of yours. If it works, then remove the good stick and start fitting your own memory one stick at a time until you isolate the failed stick. The removal of the graphics card with no change isolates that from the list.

How do i go do a factory restore

You will need to get a Windows installation CD for the version of windows designed for your computer first.

Second you can download all your drivers for your motherboard before you format your hard drive and install windows.

Wont send power to screen or keypad/mouse

Try Reseating the RAM/ try with another working RAM. Before this remove all peripherals like HDD, CD-ROMs, Floppy Drives. Check with another Power Supply,

@ vinay2412 - YES you need a PSU wil either the 4 or 8 pin molex connector to power the motherboard correctly

the lightscribe drive will not read a DVD or CD until you boot the PC correctly

the wireless k/b will not work until you load the drivers etc. you need a PS2 or USB k/b to get thing going first until the OS is running and you can install drivers

@ shaikh27

your error suggest you need to load drivers from the motherboard driver CD. do you have this?

No display, no start up beep, no post and no boot

You need a Molex power plug (same as for your standard IDE hard drive or DVD drive to an 8pin adapter. A common product. If you can't get it locally.

Without this the board won't boot as there is insuffcient power on the motherboard to drive your display adapter.

Here is the link to the product at

Also, if you have onboard video too, make sure the bios setup pages have the property set for primary display adapter to Add-in/PCIe.
