Rear motored truck on kato ho p42 after dcc installation not working properly after period of time

I've had the same issue. I doubt it's your DCC hookup. Those motors are probably shot, and need to be replaced. I run analog, and I've had multiple motor failures with these things. These motors don't last long and, when one goes, the other one often follows... fairly soon after. I was able to prolong the motor life a little bit by orienting the motors to run the same direction. (I turned the rear truck around. I realize that's probably not possible, with your DCC in place.) I've still had motors fail, in spite of motor orientation. I've got all nine units, and six of the nine have had to have motors replaced. Some units, I've had to replace motors more than once! I haven't figured out any way to bring a motor back to life, once it starts stalling intermittently, or if it quits altogether. Sometimes, rotating the motor a tiny bit in its cradle might help, but that's a stop-gap. I suspect motor failure... unrelated to the DCC hookup.

Locomotive moves then stops

If your locomotive continuously starts then stops, when prodded with hand/finger repeats process. Then most likely, first check your electric connection for a loose connection. If everything looks ok, check wheels on locomotive for dirty wheels, then check track for dirty track.

HELP!!! I need to lubricate a KATO N scale

Be sure you use a FINE needlepoint oiler, that will let out a single very small drop at a time. I use a "Trumpet Alve Oil" which is very thin. (Or I mix it with a 3-in1 oil to thin it. Never tried the sythetic oils, but should be ok, if not too thick.
Oil: any point where a spinning shaft end touches a bearing or seat, or passes thru a support, and a drop on the gear teeth if any.
DO NOT oil any part of the motor, as this could get into the brushes. Be brave, and best of luck.

Kato locomotive doesnt run. Goes for a short time with spray of contact cleaner then stops

That means that your track is dirty. Your locomotive is picking up dirt from the track, which builds up. on the wheels. Use a track cleaner NOT alcohol... the alcohol does leave a residue on the track after it dries.
