Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My Carrier FB4ANF036 unit is located in the garage. Water is dripping on the garage floor and creating an unhelathy situation. Could it be the drain line is clogged? How do I access the unit to try and clear it? I know there was a product called "Sludge Buster", which was a small white tablet that would clear the drain line. What can I do?

have your HVAC technician check the pressures in your unit...sounds like you may have low pressure. You should NOT be having any ice build up to melt off.

Inside of the unit is a drain hole that will drain out water to the drip pan. The drip pan is located under the unit and it uses the heat of the motor to evaporate the moisture that collects in it. The drain hole is plugged. Go on youtube and you can watch a video on how to fix it. Very easy.

Pool of clear water on floor of garage overnite

ok , can I assume you run green, yellow, orange ,pink antifreeze
in the radiator, not pure water, and check AF every fall for 50% consenstrations? yes.
then that water is normal Airconditioning condensate water that all cars drop to the ground. pure water it is.
THE A/C runs when you ask for COLD or Defrost.(front)
and works just like a cold beer glass in a humid tavern. it drips.

Have model number FV4BNB006 air handler and condensate is not running down the coils and into the drip pan. It is falling directly on to the filter and into the air box creating a large water issue.

Be sure the unit is tilted slightly to the rear and that the back drain
is clear. Also the floor of the unit should be clear of sludge, etc.
so the water can drain from front to rear and out the drain.

Water in the drip pan- what is causing it?

I assume you are talking about the indoor unit. One function of the a/c system is to dehumidify the air. Condensation forms on the cooling coil and runs to the drip pan. There should be a drain line on the drip pan that drains the pan outside. These sometimes become clogged causing the water level in the pan to rise. Try some mild drain cleaner to open the line. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find.

Water on the floor under the freezer side of unit

It happens to all those old refrigerators. There is a shield separating the drip container and freezer through a small hole. Check if it is blocked. This won't do much of the work and may not be stopped even if you do something. If you can, have a new refrigerator.

Water leaking from under refrigerator

The drip pan is located from behind the refrigerator. You have to take the cardboard off and unplug the unit. You will see the drip pan with the fan unit on top of it.
