Question about Sharp AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Player

2 Answers

I have a Sharp BD-HP24U blue ray with netflix ethernet streaming capabilities. I have purchased a netgear router. All connections are working. I know this because I unplugged the ethernet cable going to the blue ray and connected it up directily to the computer. I was able to get on line. I had two sharp technicians try to trouble shoot the problem and the best I could get was to send the blue ray back. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

Hi...I also have a Sharp BD-HP24U. I was having trouble with my Netgear router as well. I wound up downloading the latest firmware update from the Sharp USA website onto a memory stick. Then putting into the USB port in the back of the player, and uploaded. I am now happily streaming Netflix. Hope this helps!

To further isolate the issue, you may want to consider plugging the blu ray straight to the modem. If you get functionality, then there is a compatibility issue between the units and a new one won't fix the issue. If it still doesn't work then you will feel better about returning the unit.

First you have to hook up network cable to Blue Ray player and to router
Next update software in Blue Ray player by going thru your menu in blue ray player to settings
If you have your blue ray player with Netflix app then all
you do is click on app and log in.
And make sure HDMI cable is plugged into TV.
And that should work for you. Any problems write me back.

How do I stream netflix to my t.v. using my netgear router

If your TV has a Netflix app installed, you simply need to connect your TV to the network either with an ethernet cable or wirelessly.

If your TV does not have internet connectivity, you must connect a device that allows you to stream Netflix (like a PS3, Wii, Roku, Blu-ray player or even a laptop). That device must connected to your home router (wired or wirelessly).

Can you please tell me if Sharp Aquos BDHP24U dvd player connects to the internet wirelessly?

The BD-HP24U does not have built-in wireless capability and does not accept the USB wireless dongle that Sharp sells for other units. It only has wired ethernet and the ability to read files from a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive.

You can find the documentation and specs for the BD-HP24U here: .

I wish that I had better news.

Do I need to get an adapter or anything to connect my blu ray to my internet? I already have the ethernet/LAN cable but connection keeps failing

You shouldn't need an adapter. Are you plugging it directly into the wall or into a router? It's possible something to do with your router settings is causing the connection to have problems. You may want to consult the manual to your router if you are using one.

Get a Wireless Access Point ($30-$50 average). A wire from WAP to the Blu-Ray player should work like a charm. The WAP pretty much takes your wireless connection and transforms it back to a wired Ethernet connection for devices like this. You can have your Wireless Router on one side of your house and the WAP on the other, right next to your blu-ray player with a short Ethernet connection between the two. The player will just see it as a standard Ethernet connection.

I am trying to set up the router for my LG bd 370 so I can stream netflix. My network is wireless so I do not remember how to integrate or install! I have a netgear RP114 that I am trying to use.

I have the same BD player. I have a linksys WRT610N router and i use a D-Link DAP 1522 wireless bridge to connect the LG player on my N network. The Bridge works great. If you want to stream in HD you most definitely want to have an N network to handle the needed bandwidth. also YouTube streams wonderfully also.

Dynex router blocks connection of Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-Ray to Net

I'm not familiar with that particular router, but all of them are about the same. You can go in and edit firewall settings to allow a particular IP address to have access. Don't disable the firewall completely, just set it to allow that I.P address to have full access.
