Question about HP Open Box Pavillion 1.5GHz Wireless Notebook with Combo Drive ( Model ZE2015us ) (PX382UAABABB1) PC Notebook

1 Answer

I have an HP Pavilion Ze4900 laptop that I've bought 5 years ago. It still works fine under 40GB HDD and 512 RAM, 1.6GHZ, and with an XP sp3 OS. Anyway, is there a way I could upgrade it to a modern laptop that could work with windows 7, with 320 or higher HDD and 2 RAM? Because someone told me there are power discrepancies. If there are, upto what level could I upgrade my old Laptop? I just like to keep it longer if possible!!!!! thank you very much

SOURCE: HP Pavilion laptop freezes daily and i force manual shutdown

It sound's like there could be a compatibility problem, maybe corrupt file's, or missing start up file's, have you tried doing a window's update, or doing a disc check on the hard drive, go to my computer right click the drive then go to propertie's, click on tool's then click check now for drive error's. if that do'es not work you may need to reformat back to the original xp os.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion DV5000 battery charging problem

Sounds like you need to calibrate the battery, it is supposed to be done every 3 months. If it is not done, your battery will display the same symptoms are you describe. Yes, this holds true for adding a new battery also.

Here is HP's instructions on how to do it. You want to scroll down to the section called "Calibrate the notebook PC battery".

Installing Windows 8

Have you check the hardware compatibility on the Computer? There is a minimum spec requirement to run windows 8. Is it a 32 or 64 bit windows 8? The HP A720N was available for sale in Sept. 1, 2004. I doubt if it will run win 8. The Ram and Graphics are going to be a big issue. Take a look at this Min. Requirements: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/system-requirements If you can, return Win 8. Looking at your specs, I don't think you can run Win 7? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements Perhaps Vista.

My HP Pavilion 513c is freezing up when I play YoVille and the CD-R sometimes freezes up when I put in a CD to pull files. How can I speed it up and correct the CD player? I have already upgraded the...

NO OS stated, is this windows XP?
iF XP , it must have SP3 updates, for sure
what geforce there are like 1000 cards. must we guess?
the CD drive this old can be bad.
will it play CD-CA store bought REAL music disks?
not mP3 disks REAL.no way. in 2001.
using VLC ,use that and use free music player,
my guess you want to play online games. right at yoworld>?
what browers, ? IE 5,6,7,8, E11, what?
most old IE broswer below 9 are no supported now.
so not telling what browser is impossible to anwer, 100 browsers there are.
try FFv55, fire fox, that is a GO.

what does pull files mean? , copy files?????
posting lacking OS and where you play URL
makes all this very hard.
id say reload the OS fresh, your unstated OS.
then we work from there, service packs and newest IE FOR SURE
better FF version 55 or newer.
worse yet is its a facebook game. ouch

hp 513c is old retired legacy pc, hp has zero support on it.
Intel Celeron 1.8 GHz
2 GB ram max
40gb hdd, (tiny )and is PATA not SATA.
has only old PCI slots , no PCI-e can work there.
i came with AGP ,new.
Graphics Processor Intel Extreme Graphics shared video memory (UMA)

old PCI slots are slow as slugs
so only AGP cars (now relics) work.
so my guess you put in some AGP geforce old card there, but failed to say what.
i came new with XP.(the dead OS, MS killed it)

seems this pc is year 2001, 17 years old. no?
that old CD cant read vast modern formats.
it's a fact. only old formats.work...

looks like HP sold it for 3 years, 2001, to 2004
it's a relic (i trash all I see)
why not upgrade to at least 2006 PC, 64bit.
and win.(no big cash there, ever)
get lots of RAM possible.
any PCIe video card you want (nVidia) express cards.
Windows 7, min.
real sTAT drives not old PATA.

your PC is worth only $10 used, if lucky.
go to goodwill(tm) store and pick out a real PC. with a coa sticker w7 or above. 2006 or newer.
and be 1000x more happy , I promise...

my guess is this old MOBO is Trigem.
Your motherboard was made by TriGem.
It's a TriGem 2002052.
HP's name is Glendale. OLD AS DIRT< and useless

no OS stated, is this XP?
my guess you are using the HP backup or ?some HP software to do that, you never said.
the day to do that is day1, not 10 years later
you will end of with a useless disk in any case.
back new in 2008, long ago, the Laptop has this card inside,
instructions saying to make a recover disk, now,
that will work then, but now, 9 years later.?
how can it?
if XP its a corrupted OS and now is not supported.
same now with VISTA.
your PC came new with Vista or 7 (both 32 bit or 64)
what is there NOW.

the building a recovery disk needs all things perfect.
1: OS not corrupted,
2: recovery partition not corrupted or missing
3: DVD drives still good, and correct media used.
4: Driver for the DVD must be correct. from HP.
5: HDD must be bad, and passes the S.M.A.R.T tests.

one trick to get there is push the F11 key.
that is the HP recovery magic key (power on hammer f11,,, bam)
then recovery the OS then make the recovery disk.
now that the OS is ok , the DVD-r (or what it needs) will work.
if the F11 key fails, that means the HDD is bad or the recovery partition is corrupted, as most are this old.. 9 long years later.

Im using hp dv6700t laptop,i want to install xp on my laptop

Your laptop has a SATA hard drive and windows XP doesn't recognize those drives cause the operating system came out before those drive were made.

Follow these steps I found thru google to get windows xp sp3 to recognize your drive:

http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-39282-xp-can-t-recognize-hard-drive-for-os-install

You'll have to use a program to do this but people explain how to do it on that page plus the program is free.
