Water spilled on laptop

My toddler nephew spilled a huge glass of water directly on my laptop while it was plugged in and on. The screen fizzled with lines and then went black. I took the battery out and left the computer out to dry for several days. I tried plugging it in again to see if it was ok and the screen is black. What can be done to fix it, if it can be fixed at all/

i have the same problem with an IBM, nothing on the screen and it doesn't turn on at all. took out all the parts and i figured out that the problem is from the power supply but the power supply is integrated into the motherboard. basically, the motherboard is trashed.

I am assuming your motherboard is fried, but your Hard Drive is still OK. The laptop may not work anymore, but your files are more than likely recoverable.

How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

Most likely you are going to need a motherboard, depending on the model, under the keyboard is the palm rest assembly...most of these have many opening in them that will allow fluid to get directly to the motherboard and they do not do well with liquid spilled on them when they are energized. Below is the link to the service guide for that model. I usually get my mobos on Ebay, but there are other sellers to grab one from.

Hi cannot find wirless button on samsung laptop

First, plug your laptop into the wall. This allows for the laptop to be powered off the wall current. Next you need to get a large glass. Fill this glass with water and blue food dye. While the laptop is plugged into the wall, turn it on. Then you need to pour the glass of water on the laptop screen while closing it slowly. Leave the laptop alone for about five minutes after this, and then open the screen slowly. The screen should now display your configuration of where things like USB ports and the wireless button and settings are.

I have a Brother intellifax 2800. It's leaving streaks on all my fax output. How do it fix this problem.

On the Intellifax, there is a glass bar that runs across and allows the fax machine to read the image. Take out the entire drum unit and you should see that bar in the middle of the machine, careful it can be hot. Take an alcohol swab, or a q-tip dipped in alcohol and rub it from left to right on the glass bar. You may also see some spilled toner that is causing the streaks. Remove any toner with the alcohol swabs, do not use water or try to vacuum (huge mess if you do). You do not have to get all the toner, just make sure the glass bar is clean. That should do it.

Water spilled on laptop....LCD screen appears fainted...?????

Don't worry, water won't damage your screen permanently and will 'evaporate' in time, but for now you have to live with the effects it has on your screen. It will be more like a few months then days but it will heal in time

Hope This Helps
