It will be up in the panel that the cold control is mounted to the celing in the fresh food section,
remove the knobs for the freezer and the ref side
remove the frount plate that tells you how cold the settings for each side of the ref are
remove the 1/4 screws in the frount of the panel, and the ones in the rear of the panel
there you will find the cold contol

Fridge is freezing over and no water or ice.

I would check the main water supply coming into the fridge first. If there is water there then make your way into the fridge. Try to confirm the supply in the fridge by looking at the line into the fridge. If there is water there then you need to check the door switches to see if they are supplying power to the water solonoid. But if the fridge is not making ice also I would look at the main control to be the problem. But if the freezer is running too cold then the frost level in the insulation could reach the water lines and freeze them. But if the freezer is running too cold then I would again look at the main control as being faulty. No real way to test the control, unfortunately you just get to replace it. Hope this helps

Whirlpool 6wmv43ns/02 Fridge Too Cold & Freezing Food

I would first try replacing the control in the fridge. If that doesn't remedy the situation, I would try replacing the thermostat next.

Whirlpool 10 cu ft fridge, freezing cans of pop at rear center of unit and spraying interior. Have had the fridge over a year with no problems until the last couple of weeks.

Turn the cold control down. If you have already have the cold control turned down then you will need to replace the cold control/thermostat with a new one.

My whirlpool refrigerator side will not cool

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

I have a Whirlpool Gold Conquest Mod# GS6shexnt00 side-by-side. About 18 months after buying it the refrigerator section stopped getting cold but the freezer section still worked even though it had iced...

Yes, the difusser door is not allowing cold air to enter the fridge section, a fridge freezer is actually just a freezer, some of the cold air is drawn off from the freezer to chill the fridge protion, if the door is stuck, broken no cold air is getting to the fridge section
