My royal ag10x cross cut shredder is losing steam - labors thru 4 pages at a time and i've never done any maintence in 8 years. is there a way to sharpen the blades?

Have you ever "oiled" the machine.
ALL cross-cut shredders need to be oiled to help clear out the paper dust and debris generated during the shredding process.
Pour some shredder oil across the cutting shafts while it is running and occassionaly put some oil onto a sheet of paper as you shred it.

Have you ever "oiled " the machine...99% of cross cut shredders have to be oiled... get some shredder oil and squirt it onto the cutting blades where you put the paper in...this should be done with a certain frequency dependant on the amount of shredding that you do.

Cross-cut shredders need to be "oiled" if used frequently. Use a lightweight grade"20" shredder oil to lubricate the cutting blades.

Have you "oiled" the machine.... put some shredder oil on a piece of paper and shred it....do this a few times to get oil into the cutting blades and see if that helps.

Yes...these small shredders are only meant for light use....5 minutes ON..10 mins OFF to let it cool down, thats the nature of a $60 or $70 shredder.
Commercial shredders start at $250 and go up. But you dont have to wait for them to cool down.
Common sense still says you must buy the right machine for the job...even if you only use it 2 times a year..it depends on the amount of paper you shred..not the number of times you use it.

Put some shredder oil on the paper you are shreding...shred a number of sheets with oil on them so that the oil gets down into the cutting shafts/teeth.
