Question about Audio Players & Recorders
This is usually a problem with the internal power supply and battery conditioner, the Vreg, & Zener often fails, and this causes at first intermittent operation, and finally it breaks down completely and stops the unit, these facts fit with your symptoms.
You need to take the unit to an authorised service center and get it repaired, the repair shouldn't cost too much, as usually they simply replace the entire board, some techs may indeed go down to component level and fix the actual component(s).
I suggest you contact Pioneer head office, and ask where to take the unit for repair, in your area. If you are a bit worried about costs, ask for a "Quote" before allowing any work to start.
