OK I have been researching this all day and I finally came up with a solution for it not detecting your player. rcaaudiovideo.com suggested for another player that you shut down your computer and restart it. then plug your unit up again (it reinstalled the drivers for it) and run rca easyrip. Low and behold it detected my device. I had earlier in the day plugged in a different mp3 player and MAYBE that is why it wasn't working plus the program stopped responding and I had to shut it down in task manager. Anyway. mine is working now. My OS is Vista.
Hope this helps

My problem occurred when I connected the player via a USB hub, installed the software, then later uninstalled the software when the updated software started producing error messages. I uninstalled the software and when I attempted to install the software from the player, I received the error message. I connected the player to a USB port that is built into the computer (not routed through a hub) and I could reinstall the original software.

Unfortunately, there is no conversion software to convert the videos to transfer the device other than easyRip. Since each device has a different set of parameters, easyRip knows which device is connected and can convert to a compatible format.
Some PCs, such as Dell laptops, report unexpectedly when easyRip is determining whether a device is connected via one of the USB ports, so trying an alternative port is recommended.
You can download the latest version of easyRip at the following site:

I have the same issue. I even went to the rca support site and downloaded the latest version of RCA easyRip Media Software, (yeah right). It still does not work. Well after doing some research, I discovered the software is not compatible with my OS, windows 2000.
I have been trying to find out the actual type of video files that the rca software converts them too , maybe there's some converter out there that does the same and I use it as a work around...etc.

Connect the Mp3 player to the computer for the installation to continue.
